bleeding after sex..possible from LEEP procedure 2 years ago

I had the LEEP done over a year ago and just recently there has been bleeding after sex. A day or so after this I have been experiencing bad cramping and nausea. A few weeks ago this happened and I could barely move and I threw up. Also, a few weeks ago I was also diagnosed with Hypothyroidism (I don´t this there is a connection but just thought I´d add it in just in case). Has anyone experienced the cramping with the bleeding after sex?

I had my leep done in June, I didn't wait the full 4 weeks I was supposed to. There was a little pain but nothing unbearable. I have my check up appt. tomorrow. I will let you know if it interfered with the healing!

I have not had the Leep procedure yet, but a lady that I know said she started having vaginal orgasms after the Leep. She said her sex life improved. Is there anyone out there that have anything positive to say about the Leep?

I have had a LLETZ or LEEP procedure approx 12 years ago when i was 19 with no complications, no pain, no excessive bleeding that I can remember and no pain after sex. I recently returned a bad pap and had another LLETZ procedure with a different Dr. This time around the whole experience has been traumatic for both me and my partner. I had the procedure July 29 it's now October 28th. about 3 weeks ago I started experiencing post-coital bleeding. I have booked in to see a new gyno as I was not happy with my last one (who had the bedside manner and compassion of a plank of wood) Has anyone else experienced this? we waited 6 weeks like everyone else to have sex, got the go ahead form my Dr who told me on inspection my cervix looked like it was healing well . the post-coital bleeding is occurring in the last two weeks of my period and is pink to bright red. This makes me think my cervix is weakend and is not holding my period in anymore..I'm 33 and I have never had a baby, and Im feeling like my chances of motherhood are slipping away from me..anyone?

I just went through the same thing you did (Dec. 2011) - a burst artery following my second LEEP (about 2 weeks later). (the first LEEP was 10 months earlier). VERY scary - I turned down my friend's offer to drive me to the doctor or ER and stupidly drove myself. Do NOT do this! I was too stubborn and didn't want to put my friend out. I lost alot of blood and could have passed out, caused an accident, etc. I was cauterized at the doctor's office - incredibly painful and took forever as my doctor couldn't see where to cauterize because the area was filling with blood so quickly. I lost a lot of blood and had several golf ball size clots. That "fix" lasted about another 10 days. Then I started gushing again and had fist to grapefruit sized clots - very horrible!! I went to the ER - no more cauterizing for me! - and ended up in surgery. It turned out to be the artery again and the entire area was infected. My doctor later told me that he stitched around the whole cervix and had never seen anything like either of my episodes following a LEEP. I'm writing this not to gross anyone out, but to warn anyone that has excessive bleeding following a LEEP. Do not mess with it - go to the ER if you are having clots or flowing like a broken faucet. If the bleeding is an artery, don't waste your time and your health on cauterization - get stitched up! You definitely have to advocate for yourself these days!

Hi I had a leep done march 29th n first off I was scared but they put me to sleep n I felt fine wen I woke up. Just cudnt sit but next day I cud n had no pain. Had that yellow discharge n that black charcoal stuff n the smell is horrendous. Now it's slight smell with sum bleeding . No pain n I feel fine. I say have sex or use tampons wen ur body is ready. I haven't had sex with my boyfriend since this was done. He agrees to wait till the smell n blood r gone. I do agree go slow wen u resume sex cuz I plan to. Hope this helps

Hi I also had a leap precedure in November and waited the 2month ...stsartd to have sex and now everytime I do have sex I bleed, this mainly happens if I am on top....I ma getting scared since its been 7 month now..... however I hear many cased of women how are goin thgru the same thing....dont know whqt to do! this is killing my sex life... any suggestions?

I had a leep procedure last week 6/12/12. The procedure went well however on the 2nd day after the procedure I started bleeding extremely heavy ( saturating a pad in 20mins) I went to my dr right away and she repeated the procedure minus removing cells. I was told after the scab had come off. My question is has anyone else had this happen and does it mean my cervix was burned even deeper?

Need HELP over a year ago

I had the Leep done almost 3years ago and now evertime I have sex I bleed, my periods last anwhere between 8 to 10 days and then once my period ends and I have sex then I bleed for a couple more days. sometimes it is a lot and other times it's just spotting. All my Paps keep coming back fine. I was given another biopsy about a year ago and that was fine. I just had another one completed today and was told she seen purple spots on my cervix and was unsure what this was. She stated if this all comes back fine she will have to send me to a specialist becuase she is really unsure what is going on.

I am so confused and getting so tired of this. I want the bleeding to go away and I have been getting nowhere. Has anyone else gone through this?

I don't want to scare you, but I had LEEP laser surgery done 5 years ago, and am still experiencing bleeding after sex and even after my pap smears. It has been very troubling, because It is hard to enjoy sex now. I don't know if there is a answer to how long something like this is supposed to heal, but I would encourage everyone to wait until they feel ready to have sex again. I initially waited about 4-6 weeks before having sex and have not been very actively have sex in the past 3 years maybe once or twice, but it still hurts. :(

I had the LEEP procedure more than a year ago and I always bleed after sex. It's cost me a couple of boyfriends actually because they think it's gross or that there's something wrong with me and it's a turn off. I'm 30 years old and the whole situation makes me feel kind of like a leper. I would love to one day get married and maybe have kids but as soon as it gets serious and a guy sleeps with me he gets all freaked out that I'm damaged. I don't really know what to do.

Frustrated over a year ago

I had a letz procedure 7 months ago. I still bleed for 3 out of 4 weeks every month. If I have sex it sets off the bleeding which continues until I get my period. It's really impacting on my sex life, as I get worried every time. I was never warned about this but it sounds like I'm not the only one with this problem.

Has anyone had treatment for this or can suggest anything to reduce the bleeding? I'm very interested to hear anything that may help.

I'm going to head back to my doctor for a check up. It's really hard to get a time to go, given the bleeding seems to be there the majority of the time.

Hi I had a deep LEEP procedure about a year ago and as straight after my periods were all over the place. They would start light and build up to a proper period taking around 2 - 3 weeks in total. Even having a bowel movement made me bleed! The gyno told me sometimes tampering with those down below bits can change your hormones. I had scans and another biopsy to be sure nothing was wrong, which were all clear. They said to go on the mini pill to regulate them which I was reluctant to but did. For 1st 2 months had short periods then 3rd amost nothing, then 4th month it was I was still bleeding after 2 weeks. I stopped taking it as I felt it wasn't working and in any case was masking, not fixing the problem. My periods are now a lot more regular lasting around 10 days in total, still a few days longer than they used to be, but better. I think going on and off the pill must have forced my hormones to re-regulate! I also used to bleed after intercourse then after the pill I don't so much, it seems to happen only when it's a couple of days since my period ended. Hope this helps
