This may be kind of a dumb question but I need to ask anyway. Is there a difference between bloating and gas? I notice bubbles inside my abdominal area with gas quite frequently. I've always just assumed it was gas. But now that I'm worried about ovarian cancer I'm concerned this is bloating?

Well, bloating occurs as a result of excess intestinal gas. There are many possible causes of bloating like overeating, swallowing air when eating and drinking, lactose intolerance, IBS, constipation.
Both bloating and gas (when you expel it) can also be symptoms of a serious medical disease and if they are persistent, they sure need to be checked.
Although not so common, bloating could arise from ovarian cancer. If you have a family history of ovarian cancer, or increased risk factors, you should certainly have regular exams.
Some of the ovarian cancer risk factors are age, as ovarian cancer usually occurs after the menopause, obesity places a major role, if you have ever used fertility drugs, if you started menstruating at before the age 12, had no children or had your first child after age 30, used hormonal replacement therapy, have family history of breast and colorectal cancer, or suffered from breast cancer.

Last night I found out my aunt on my dad's side had ovarian cancer a long time ago (she's ok now). And also my cousin on my mom's side had it at my age. I'm terrified.
