I have the same symptoms of a lump or flem in the back of my throat that I feel I can't clear. I've had it off and on for a couple of years now. Since menopause. I also have a gurgeling in my throat as well. Other wise I am healthy and have a good quality of life. I find when I am busy working out of visiting with people I forget I have it. I don't have problems eating or drinking. I find drinking herbal teas help. The more I dwell on it the worse it gets. As long as you know that it is not serious you can relax with it. There could be worse things wrong with you. Stop dwelling on it and keep your self busy. It will subside.

But I must admit I have been stressing about losing my parents and not being in the same country as my husband. so now that I now that I do not risk suffocating at night; Ii'm going to relax, drink plenty of peppermint tea go for long walks by the beach and take life easy. Good luck all and thanks for the heads up.

Hello
So what did the doctors eventually said you have? Was it anxiety about something subconciously?

I am on this page, because I have a lot on the go right now and I got a painful "lump feeling" on the right side of my throat about 20 minutes ago and Googled what might be causing it. I was only scanning information for a report, so nothing major, but it's being submitted a day later than I would have liked. Mine, however, does hurt a bit to swallow and also when I tip my head down and does feel like it does when I swallow a large vitamin and it doesn't go down all the way. I am going to try the water sipping mentioned above and go to bed.
That said, stress can cause a lot of health issues. A good walk or swim can reduce stress/anxiety greatly - sometimes even make it go away. Positive self-talk works for me, as does envisioning something positive - the opposite of throwing up in the garbage can. I actually picture myself in a bubble of protection when I drive and it gives me the faith that I won't be involved in a car accident. Perhaps you could do something like that or envision yourself hugging the garbage can like a Teddy bear. It sounds silly, but putting a smile on your face will reduce your stress/anxiety.
Good luck and God bless!
