Hi! My name is Erin and I'm 33 years old. I had my first "episode" last March 2011. I was just sitting on my couch watching a movie and I had a shooting pain in my chest. My left arm went numb along with left side of face. I tried to stand to get to a phone and my legs came right out from under me, I was so weak. I made it to the bathroom and chewed baby aspirin and called my mom. Got to the hospital where I stayed for 3 days bc of family history they ran every test known to man and all they could say was they think I had a TIA and I was ordered to take a baby aspirin daily. This January I had another episode to where I list function of my left hand and it kind of halfway "closed" on it's own and I didn't have the strength to open it back up. As I tried to walk my vision went black and my boyfriend had to catch me. He wrapped his arms around me very tightly bc my body started to shake as if I was having some sort of seizure but I was fully awake. I then became very cold with shivering and a slight headache. The next time I was sleeping and pain in my chest woke me up again. I was so scared I went right for the aspirin again. I was sweating, couldn't see straight and felt nauseous. The paramedics were called. Again every test was ran. They thought it was my blood pressure. I was told my brain and heart weren't working together properly and the dizziness was from dehydration and I was sent home. Today I was in class and I list vision in my left eye. I almost felt as if I was crosseyed. I kept blinking trying to fix it as I began to feel myself losing control and the numbing started. I started drinking a lot of water and also ate a piece of candy thinking maybe I needed sugar. After 20 minutes it subsided but I had a slight headache and chills to follow and I become very tired. The numbness has been coming and going all day since. I've been laying in bed resting and when this happens to me, after those symptoms subside I get crazy leg twitches and spasms, almost like I have restless leg syndrome. It's very frightening that no one can tell me what's wrong and I'm so scared I'm going to home alone with my littke one and something bad will happen. The Doctors tell me I'm crazy or stressed etc, but I know my body and this is NOT normal...I just don't know what to do.... Erin Scared & Frustrated

At this very moment i am going to the blur vision numbness  there is medicine that you can take to take care of it its also used for high blood pressure , which can cause headaches and confusion. GO to the doctors and tell them what is happening to you.(:

I'm 21, very active and this happened to me for the first time today, zigzags in my eyes like I had been staring into a bring light for too long, then my right arm went numb I had inability to read or comprehend my surroundings for about 15-30 minutes and a headache was present afterwards. I was really freaked out thinking I had a stroke or a heart attack.

In the weeks leading up to this incident I have had shortness of breath and weakness compared to my normal stature and abilities in the gym and on the field. Please someone tell me this is normal and I'm not having serious  health issues as a young adult.

think this may be the key to this type of symptom...neck and back injuries are quickly forgotten when other aches and pains develop. . my partner developed exactly the same symptoms today and was admitted to hospital... MRI scans and x ray proved negative for brain and neurological damage to the head . But in hind sight , after reading the above statements ,I know my partner ha suffered from back pain for years .she is 35 fit and eats healthy... Maybe the back specialists are not in contact with the head doctors..!will tell them at hospital tomorrow about her back problems and maybe get some form of answer ...

I'm a 31 year old male and I had the same exact thing happen to me just today. I was reading my computer screen then all of a sudden the words started getting blurry. Then it seemed like there were little rays of light coming out of them. I thought my eyes were finally going bad but it just got dizzying so I took a break for about 45 mins and come back and my left hand started to go numb follow by a slight headache (i don't get headaches very often) for the rest of the day. I think this my have happen once or twice before but I can't remember if I had blurry vision. My hand went numb one finger at a time until it reached my pinky and then each finger started to become "un-numb" in that same order.

Very scarey. I'm subscribing to this post. Please do the same and add any insight you may have on this strange occurrence.

I've had this happen before as well, and my doctor said it could be related to my birth control, and took me off regular birth control and put me on POPs (progestin only pills). It has to do with the levels of estrogen, so even if you're not on the pill, but on some type of hormonal birth control you may want to consider talking to your doctor about switching.

Sounds a lot like what happens to me when my blood sugar gets low! Try eating some jelly beans or somthing at the first sign and see if it helps!

I have had the same symtoms for 28 yrs I have had all kinds of test done but nothing found.I have learned to live with them over the yrs and decided it must not be anything serious since I have lived with tt this long. Pllease don't get me wrong, by all means get yourself checked out. Mine seems to happen when ever the muselsin my neack get really tight and sore. also whenever my sinusis flair up. Last yr I had a spell and went to the ER, They did an MRI and all that showed up was severe sinus congestion. I also had a really bad cold one time and it happend then too. Whenever I get these atacts I go lay down fo r about 1 hr, and close my eyes , seems to hels. I also do musele relaxation exersices I learned through coonitive therapy skills. I am not a dr but it could be migraines, sinus problems or maybeto do with nerves. Just a guess.

It sounds like Multiple sclerosis. Please see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001747/

I just read through that entire link and I really don't think it's MS. If you read through everyone's posts you'll see that a few people have had brain scans with no conclusive of results. Also, the numbness described in the MS link doesn't seem to describe our exact symptoms. Although I have been reading a bit more about autoimmune diseases and I wouldn't totally rule them out. But from the link, this is definitely different then MS.

I too have these symptoms. I have had many MRI's and seen specialist's. However, this is the first time I have tried to look up anything about it, because i thought the doctor's would know what there were doing. It is comforting to know Im not the only one like this. I was feeling like a freak on the street, for a little while. I was told it could be a type of migraine and then checked for any signs of a stroke, and even told I had an enlarged blood vesel. So I spent day and night for 7 days a week, for 3 weeks, writing down everything I did and smelled, the noises around me and the temperature, and everytime i felt wierd or felt any pain in my head. There was nothing that we could pin-point anything to. I even had a doctor ask if I was doing any illegal drugs. Hello, if your body felt like mine, you would be affraid to be around any drugs period. The first time it happened, was a great day. All 4 kids were down for a nap, I had just finished cleaning my house, and had laid down with the kids, when the phone rang. But i was a lil dizzy, so I made sure I was able to hold on to something, while I was on my way to the phone. I was in shock when I answered the phone because for 1, I was still dizzy, (normally after getting up to fast, you get dizzy, it goes away a few seconds later.) and for 2, It was like I forgot how to say certain words. Hello was 1. My friend was scared cause all I would say was "I dont know". So i hung up and tried to call my husband at work, when tracy answered, I knew what I wanted to say, just didnt know how to say it. I was rushed to the hospital in february 2004, to begin all the c**p that would only frustrate me now. The headache last for about 3 months straight non-stop, and just mild enuff to tolerate but hurt just enuff to not forget that its there. Its only happened 3 times since then, but the forth time started 4 days ago. I just want to know what it is.
