He's even had a cystoscopy which found nothing. He's had blood and urine tests regularly, no bacteria has ever been found. All they give him is Phenazo for the pain. They scratch their heads and shrug while he is in agony during these attacks. Been going on for 4 months now. Any ideas?

Please don't stop, I'm sure you want your son well. Go for second opinon. My neice is having the same problems with no answers. It begain 2 weeks ago, she is 28. I had many bouts of renal colic last year, and the problem was a blocked uriter, right at the UPJ(no stone ever detected). I would think an ultrasound of his kineys is in order to see if he has hydronephrosis(kidney can't drain properly.) Try cutting all caffene, carbonated or alcoholic beverages, as these are all triggers.

hi am suffering with severe renal colic am 40 now av ad this nearly ten yrs am from England av ad ultrasounds xrays all sorts of test but they cant help me am in pain every other day i pass stones very regular i use 2 pass large stones but now with medicine am passing like sand now best way i can describe they call it gravel i pass blood daily and iif not blood then this white substance they say am not processing the calcium propery and its forming into stones i feel 4 ur son it is painful tell him try cranberry juice and ask ur doc about bendroflumethiazide and potassium citrate mixture like i said i use 2 pass large stones now i pass smaller 1s since being on this stuff my condition will stay with me but ur sons will come and go from time 2 time i no pple that av ad stones and they,ve passed 1 then never ad it again some pple are like that ur lad might be 1 of them lucky 1s just make sure he is drinking plenty all the time it helps flush things out good luck don't give up take care friend
