Hey!! I have the exact same problem! XD
I injured badly my gum while I was eating my parents food because I noticed when it sharply stabbed into my gum when I was eating and I pretty much half screamed, then I left it unnoticed and now it went inflamed a bit. I tried salt and hot water and it went even worse XD

The most stupidest thing I can do, is leave it unnoticed. I think I should used some sort of mouthwash. >

While brushing my teeth about a year ago, I (female, age 28 at the time) noticed a tender spot along the gumline on one of my top front teeth.  I thought it was a small mouth sore of some kind, but it quickly grew over the two weeks that followed.  By the time I made it to the dentist, it had grown large enough that I could grip with with my lips.

The dentist poked around at it, told me it was a "growth." He cut it off that day in the office and sent it to a lab. The results were fine.  My growth was benign. He told me it may or may not come back.  Six months later, it was back.  I went back to the dentist.  This time he burned it off, saying there was no need to send it to the lab, as we already knew it was benign.  Again, he said it may or may not come back, that sometimes cells are left behind and the growth will reappear later.

Now another six months have passed, and my little growth/cyst/tumor/??? is coming back again.  It's a nuisance, but I'm perfectly willing to have the little guy burned off every six months for the rest of my life.

Has anyone else experienced this?  What might have caused this?  Is there anything I can do to prevent or delay its reappearance?  Thanks in advance!

Hi all, Just last week (Friday) i suddenly started getting really bad toothache. No matter what pain killers i took it was still unbearable. I had to book an emergency appointment at a local dentist and left work early. He did a bit of prodding etc etc and said it was most likely an abscess so he took an x-ray. When i was called back in he said it was too big for an abscess and more likely to be a cyst. I was scarred tbh as i am a smoker and thought this might be something much worse. (I'm 28 and have never needed a filling. Teeth are strong as hell) Anyway, he prescribed a course of antibiotics and said that once it had gone down to come back for a check up and that my teeth weren't the problem but i had bad gums and that might be the problem. I didn't start taking the anti's until 2 days later as i had a few parties to go to but by Sunday night it had got three times bigger and was pushing on the inside top of my right incisor so much that my bite had changed. Putting pressure on the root from the outside helped until I relieved it and then WHAM AGONY!!! I got home that night and had to do something so i sterilized a needle and stuck it into the abscess. Out came the white fluid which had an unpleasant smell to it. I used my tongue to smooth over the bump on the roof of my mouth pushing more out until there was blood and no more puss. Next stage was to swish with Listerine so the hole got some in to clean it out. The pain was instantly gone. What a relief. Over the next three days i have been very careful with my oral hygiene to make sure it does not get infected. A couple of times it filled up again but i re pierced and drained and will continue the procedure until there is no fluid left and the hole has healed over. Today it feels much better and the lump has almost gone. If anyone has the same symptoms and unbearable pain  i would say give my routine a try. It was almost like a big spot coming out of my gums in between my middle right tooth and right incisor. I believe the technical term is a periodontal cyst. It can be caused by gingivitis, blocked saliva gland, dying tooth root etc. You can live for years without any pain but as soon as an infection gets in it that's when it enlarges and starts causing problems. I hope that this will help people with similar problems or at least put any worries to rest.

My daughter has a molar that is starting to break through the skin and it is upside down.  She also has a cyst under the tooth and we have been told that this could possibye cause her jaw to fracture.  My question is, since the tooth has broken through the skin, is it possible that the cyst will not possibly break the jaw?

Hi I actually got my wisdom tooth removed in August of last year, and got a cyst-like bump on the side of my gum (where the tooth was extracted). My dentist removed it by draining it and cleaning out the area. No worries, just go back to your dentist and he'll take care of it for you.

I have the same issue I had minor surgery way back February 2010. My Oral Surgeon said its benign as well, but then I noticed that the bump came back and I have this issue again for more than a year now. I don't feel any pain at all or anything abnormal that is why I didn't bother to have it checked again. The bump is in between my lateral incisor and canine.

I don't know what this is all about, I don't have decayed tooth near my bump and I did not notice anything that would trigger this problem.

Can anyone help me?

And I notice that since this problem started my head hurts from time to time and I have low vision now compare before, I don't know if this is something related.

I was worried now because my mom called me and she said that she read something about this issue and it somewhat related to alzheimer's disease or brain abnormality.

sometimes dentists are similar to auto mechanics some are just parts changers and some just know what to do.

I have the same issues, all of you should be seen by an ENT (ear, nose, throat) this could be a sinus infection, and not at all an infection in your teeth. get seen ASAP because when you hear about the old wives tale of "an abcessed tooth that can kill you" this is actually a sinus infection. left untreated it can become very bad.

see an ENT. maybe you have a sinus infection or allergies - mold etc that is causing this. sounds like a maxillary sinus infection to me. i should know - i have one also.

I would go to a doctor. The dentist are trying to figure out what it might be only by what they know about teeth and the mouth. I have something on my gums too thats been there for several years. Although mine doesnt hurt. But I would suggest to go to the docs.
