Hi there, I'm 23 and I've recently came under great discomfort and pain and I have no idea why. About a week ago my scrotum became very itchy and then eventually started peeling and cracking it was so dry. It could have come on from sweating because it has been hot out and I wasn't showering as much as usual. Also, about a month ago I did have protected sex with a girl I barely knew, but I don't have any discomfort in my penis or while urinating and no discharges.

However now it seems I have some sort of rash that has transferred from my scrotum to my leg, looks like very small red bumps. Also my scrotum now is very red and raw and is very painful, only on the left side. I've been doing some research and have been trying some lotrimin af for the past 3 days and it seems to keep the rash from itching on my leg and I'm not peeling anymore but my sack is still very sensitive. Anyone have any remedies or knowledge of this? It is very uncomfortable.

Hi:
Unfortunately you have put yourself at great risk by having unprotected sex with a partner that is unfamiliar to you. This sounds like an std, perhaps herpes. You should not continue to try to treat the symptoms only. You've got to go and get diagnosed for your future health and the health of future partners. I hope that you are abstaining for sex, so that you will not infect and unknowing person, as your recent partner may have done. All of this is guess work, but your circumstances call for great concern. In addition, when you see the doctor you may want to consult with him/her regarding better hygiene practices and the consequences for men. I hope that you will consider this advise and not let this "rash" continue. Please see a doctor right away. Good luck and please get back to us regarding you progress. If you are diagnosed with a contagious infection, be sure to contact your recent sex partners so that they can act responsibly as well.

You stated that you had protected sex with a girl, so it's good that you are wearing condoms, but if you are having sex with multiple partners, then there is a possibility that you could have contracted herpes because condoms do not necessarily protect against that. AT the same time, do you live with other men or play sports? It's also possible that this is jock itch, so if the cream is working, that might be the cause. Best idea is to talk to your doctor. I can't diagnose you, and I wouldn't want to without the full picture. Keep us posted!

I had the same thing. I was prescribed a cream: Quadriderm NF. It contains betametason, clotrimazol and gentamycin. Worked great ! After six hours of application, the rash and redness were gone 100%. I remember applying it for two days just to make sure there was no return.  this product is manufactured by Schering-Plough.
