My right hip socket ached and was uncomfortable to walk late in the day. I Had an x-ray that showed mild arthritis however the pain isn't like arthritis. A cortisone injection eased it somewhat for a week. Now I'm getting very intense sharp shooting pains down thru the groin area and less intense shooting pain.front and side of my thigh, making walking impossible. The pain gets worse through the day and is increased with walking, especially if I pivot or rotate my hip. I'm on coumadin due to DVT in my legs earlier this year so I am unable to take anti-inflamatories.

There is no lower back pain or tenderness.

Due to your arthritis the obturator nerve is probably injured. The obturator nerve supplies the muscles that adduct your thigh (closer to your other leg in a horizontal plane). It also innervates in the hip joint area. Due to your arthritis the pain might be due to the "referred pain of the obturator nerve injury"
