It is ironic that anyone would say that C-sections are as safe as a vaginal birth. NOT so. While they may be necessary in less than 10% of births, they should never be considered a normal option for safe birthing. Wounds become infected, surigical sites open, internal damage may be left, urninary bladder damage and/or infections, the third spacing of fluids for weeks afterwards that is often painful and the longterm damage unknown, risks of blood clots, and breathing problems are just some of the often reported side-effects from C-sections. These are not normally reported with vaginal births. So, please do not encourage women to consider a C-section unless there is a true medical need for the mother or baby. Putting them at risk just so the delivery fits into the doctor or mother's schedule is not acceptable, ever.
