Can I break my hymen on my own?

yeah i did the same thing and i felt so stupid afterwards when i realized it wasn't necessary. technically i'm still a virgin cause i've never had sex with a guy. I bought a dildo and i broke one side of my hymen the fist time i used it and it hurt like hell - seriously. i guess i was really tense and i pushed it in really hard - but it wouldn't go in all the way and i thought it was because of the other side of the hymen which was still intact (there's 2 bands of tissue i found when i fingered myself prior to using the dildo. the most external one is very thin and will break easily but it hurts - this is the piece of tissue i broke with my dildo and it hurt alot because i ripped it. when i tried to insert the dildo further into my vagina it wouldn't go in all the way so i fingered myself again and i was surprised to find another band of tissue which is alot thicker right behind that first band of tissue that i ripped.



Anyways - i did something REALLY stupid.



I thought it was because of this THICKER band of tissue that was preventing me from pushing the dildo in further so i stupidly got a pair of scissors and cut it off. surprisingly it didn't hurt as much as the fist band. I guess it didn't hurt because i simply cut it rather than ripping it as i did with the first band of tissue (this band tissue is right in front of the thicker one). After cutting the thicker band of tissue with my scissors it bled a lot and i starting freaking out - but eventually the bleeding stopped. I then tried inserting the dildo again to see if it would go in all the way but it was just as it was before. I realized that i never had to cut that second band of tissue - all i needed to do was RELAX! the dildo wouldn't go in all the way because i was too tense! that second band of tissue can stretch widely and usually doesn't break until childbirth - i found this out after doing some research. DO NOT cut this thicker piece of tissue because it makes it more pleasurable for men when they're f*****g you.



i literally cried for days and i became really depressed after i realized all of this. i did something irrepairable and if i could go back in time and stop myself i would.

Actually there are different types of hymen, the one you're talking about is the normal type. Other types are imperforate (where there is no visible vaginal opening and menstrual blood is unable to flow out), microperforate (where the opening is extremely small), and septate. Septate is the type I think they are talking about; the membrane has an extra band of tissue in the middle which causes the appearance of two vaginal openings. Surgery is generally required to remove this band, which they seem to have done on their own =] lol

I imagined it to be some really thick bit of skin inside you. I'm a virgin & I don't think my hymen has broken so I had no clue xP

Yes, it is possible to have broken or rip your hymen.
It's not recommended that you TRY to clear your hymen this way, but it is possible to have ripped or damaged it.

For a better assessement, you should schedule an exam by your GYN doctor. If the hymen has been torn, and needs some
attention, it can be attended to in the doctor's office without much difficulty.
If you have a TOUGH hymen that requires some help to clear, that is the right place to turn for that help. Only a few women have a very very tough hymen that needs some assistance from their doctor, but it is essential that they get medical help to avoid pain and frustration when they choose to become sexually active.

Yes, it's possible to have your hymen torn or removed without your parents knowing.

But it is NOT necessary for it to be torn, ripped or removed for you to enjoy an orgasm.

You need to read up on your basic sexual health first, honey.  Go to the self help section of the

local bookstore or to your public library.  You need to learn about your genitals and what's there.

I had this same issue with my bridge hymen. except it was so bad that i couldn't even use a tampon, thats how much pain it was in. so my doctor surgecally removed it for me. it was the first operation like that he had ever done because my situation was so rare. but it was extremelyyyy helpful!

I think that hymens are really annoying things to have around the age of adolescence.. First of all, I think the whole "virgin" thing is a crock, and only really something to make people feel inadequate if they don't have sex or something, and second of all I think it's unsanitary to even do something like that with another person. I completely agree with this. I'm a guy so I don't really know much about having a hymen but if it hurts to have it broken why would anyone want to fix it so you can break it again? I'm afraid to even have sex with a virgin because I don't want to hurt her. I'd actually feel more comfortable if she could be numb down there and have it removed without hurting her that way sex actually feels good like it's suppose to.

I also wander why any man lucky enough to have his penis left in tact would ever want to suffer the pain of a circumcision. It's suppose to make it look bigger but who cares if it's bigger if you have to give up the most sensitive part of it. I've done the research, most of a mans nerve endings are in his foreskin which means it would actually hurt less to have his penis cut off completely where there are less nerves to cut threw at the base than to just cut off the foreskin. Plus sex would feel better with a foreskin than without.

People are going threw all this pain for sex when sex is suppose to feel good, it's not suppose to hurt. It's actually a turn off for me if I even think I'm hurting the girl I'm with. My ex made some pretty weird faces that made me think she was in pain so I tried to stop but then she urged me to keep going. Good thing you only have to deal with it once, then. At any rate, the truth behind the hymen is that upon reaching sexual maturity, it's no longer a factor for many women. According to "Physical Examination of the Child and Adolescent," less than half of the women in one survey reported so much as bleeding during their first time. The book also claims that one's hymen is never completely absent.

Either it was already broken or you didn't have one :/
