Hi, I want to know if actinic keratosis can develop to carcinoma or not? How can this be prevented or delayed?

An actinic keratosis is manifested as scaly or crusty bump formed on the skin surface. The other comon expression is solar keratosis, short form is "AK's". Their size can be from small as a pinhead to an inch across. Aktinic keratosis are dark, tan, pink, red, or the same color as ones skin. Aktinic keratosis my serve as first step in developing a skin cancer and is considered precancer. About 10% of active lesions are considered to become squamos cell carcinomas. These cancers are not life threatening, if they are detected and treated in early stages. If it bleeds, ulcerate, grows it can spread to surrounding tissue and even metastase.
