My mother had cardic spasm. Doctor seemed pretty worried. Could anyone please told something more about cardic spasm.

Another word for cardiac spasm is coronary spasm. This is sate when muscles in the walls of blood vessels (they provide blood flow to the heart muscle, also called coronary arteries) temporary constrict. Temporary constriction is called spasm. This can narrow arteries and interrupt blood flow, that is why it has the same effect as heart attack, and can even lead to it. Smoking is one of the factors your mother should definitely avoid!
