To the guest with the yeast infections. This is not a bunch of hooey! I went thru this...you have to absolutely remove all sugar from your diet. That includes anything white such as breads, rice and potato's. Eat yogurt that has L.aciphadophillis (spelling?) in it. They also have the pills in all drug stores. Also there is a great book you can read it's called the yeast connection. Make sure you shower and not soak in a tub, do not use antibacterial soap, get something mild like johnson & johnson and wash you underwear in detergent & bleach only....no fabric softner.

Low grade Lymphoma or Lymphoma can play a role, do you have any emalarge lymph nodes or is your spleen enlarge and if not, then you may have to go to a Oncologist and maybe have a bone marrow biopsy. Good luck

Have you had your Spleen checked, you talk about pain on your left side, that is a possibility. Also, having the results sent to a "Cytogenectic Laboratory" & do the "FISH" test as sometimes the bone marrow can have a Negative results but still have some cancer cells in your body. Also one moe thing i can think of, maybe you need to see a rheumatologist. good luck to you

Wow, I am so happy to see that these conversations are current and that i am not the only one in this boat. Two weeks ago i went to the hospital in the middle of the night with severe kidney pain. I have a personal history with Kidney stones and I have a rather large one now as well. I also found out that my white blood cell count at the time of admission to the hospital was 21000. This meant i would not have a lithotripsy done to blast the stone and that i needed to stay in the hospital for several days. The Dr told me that i have an infection, and that i need to take a lengthy course of antibiotics to fix the problem. I go back to him tomorrow, may 14th 2007. i am nervous to find out if my count has changed, he put a stent in me to help with the stone and it is driving me nuts.....i know about everything else, i just dont know what made my WBC count go so high. Oh, the doctor also told me that if i had not gone to the hospital when i did i could have died or at the very least lost my kidney...scarey! So, i am with you all, love to hear what you have to say about it and what you know or have heard and how you are doing?

I felt really bad as if I was going to collapse so I went to the ER on Mother's Day, and found out that my WBC was 16,900. My symptoms were generalized pain everywhere and specifically upper teeth/gum pain, tingling and numbness in my hands and feet, and I was also very thirsty. I had a very bad cold 3 weeks ago and then after that I had what I thought was food poisoning. Probably my body was dealing with the same virus, which then my internist believes, turned into a bad case of sinusitis, which is a bacterial infection which drove up the WBC. I am on my second day of antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory for the pain. Already my jaw is feeling some relief. I just hope the neuropathy goes away too.

I just came back from my routine check-up with my rheumatalogist (lupus) and like always I expected him to say all my levels were good. But he said my white cell count was high (16,000). He also asked me if I had a cold around the time I got my blood work done and if I was running low grade fevers. I told him that the Sunday before I got my bloodwork done (got it done on Tuesday), I felt very tired, my throat was sore and I had a fever of about 101. Everyone has been suffering from allergies, so that is what I figured it was. When I went on Tuesday to get my blood done, I felt fine.....still tired, but really no complaints. My doctor is sending me back for my CBC to be tested again. If it once again comes out high he is going to refer me to a hematologist (blood dr). I asked him if it could possibly be my lupus, which he has been my doctor for about 10 years now, he said no. He does not feel it is an infection and/or my lupus. I just came home and took my temp, and keep in mind....feel ok, and it is 100.4. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT!!! I have no yeast infection, no cold, my allergies are not bothering me and no cold sores (which are a SURE SIGN my body is fighting something). Any comments????

Just remember that while a high WBC is alarming, it is not a precursor to Leukemia. It can range from Aemia, IF disease, RA, anemia or tissue damage. Please test for the worst but hope or the best-Take Care

Hi,
I currently have a wbc count of 14 from my latest exam(last year it was elevated too), and now I'm going to see a Hematologist. My Doctor does not think I should be overly worried. I keep replaying it over in my head about the worst case scenarios, and think that I recently had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled, and have been under a lot of stress especially at work. I freaked out right away when he suggested i go to the specialist. I have no symptons of what the worst could be, usually feel fine, but deep down inside i feel i won't rest till i know if there is truly nothing wrong.

Hi! I have recently gone to the doc due to swollen glands and feeling tired all the time. I was tested for strep, thyroid and mono. There is a bacteria growing for the strep culture but still no definite answer. My thyroid is normal and I do not have mono. The doc did say my WBC was high and I would need to come back in a month to have it tested again. I have already had a cancer scare in 2005 and I am freaking out. Have 7 and 8yr old daughters and a 12 week old newborn. I am praying this is just from a obvious infection but cannot understand why they would want me to come back if that is the case! Worried Sick!!!!

I have high white blood cell count. I have to wait 2-3 weeks for another blood test, also I went to have thyroid and iron test which came back fine but showed white cells it’s a long time to wait. I know that they are responsible for protecting the body from infection and malignancy. Is there anyone with same problem? Is this sign for infection?

FOR ALL ON THIS BOARD, IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED HEP C, DO IT NOW!!!! MAKE YOUR DOCTOR GIVE YOU A BLOOD TEST FOR IT. DON'T WANT TO SCARE ANYONE, BUT FROM RECENT UNFORUNTAE EXPERIENCE, I HAVE NOW FOUND OUT WHY MY WBC WAS SO HIGH AT TIMES... GET TESTED

My husband has been suffering from joint pains. And he said on several occasions that he was dizzy. We just found out his WBC count is 19 and we are waiting to see. We did not go to a specialist yet. But god is great.

I went to the emergency room this morning at 3:30am with debilitating menstral pain. I have had unusual bleeding for the last 6 months or so. My white cell count is at 16. I have no fever. They did xrays and a scan (using iodine) everything came back negative. I have had reoccuring problems with yeast infections as well. The more i read the more scared i get. Im going back in 48 hours to d another test.

In the past i have had a couple of goiters (swollen lymph glands) but was told all was fine..I will have to wait..
