I don't know how much this will help but I don't know my white blood cell count. I have had many yeast infections and yogurt of any kind with "live active cultures" have helped me SO much. My grandmother just got her white blood cell count back and they were saying that it was something like 89000 I think.... She is not doing well right now but they tested her for Luekemia and she doesn't have it!

Now, my sister has a weird womanly issue and gets infections constantly. No one really can explain that. They want her to take some anitbiotic every month. Just one really potent one. Yogurt has tremendously helped her as well but she is still seeking another treatment. Try to cut your yeast intake (beer, bread, noodles that contain yeast ect..) and then try the yogurt and increase fruit and veggies. See if you notice a difference at all.

I hope this helps you see disneyland!!!! I hope my sister and I can take my neice soon too!!!!

I am really glad I found this page. I am 32 years old and recently went to the doctor for a visit. I have had chronic pains mostly in my back, chest, and joints since I was 21. I have been through everything to see what it could be, but no logical answer. Well on this visit, the doc wanted to run another blood panel because he had run one last year to check for any signs of arthritis. During our conversation, I continued to explain to him how I hurt in my joints, muscles and all over my body. It is weird to explain, just an over all black cloud over you. I also told him that I am always fatigued, and don't sleep well. He decided to treat these symptoms as Fibromyalgia. We had exhausted all other things. He put me on Lyrica and in the past couple of weeks, I think it has helped. I will go and get the dosage readjusted, but It may be something to it. Well in the mean time, my blood results came back and my WBC was 14. He decided to send me to a hematologist which I go to tomorrow. The point I see with a lot of these posts is that a lot of people with a high WBC also suffer from joint and muscle pain, fatigue, etc. The doctor seems to think that this is no reason for my WBC to be high, but hopefully I think it might. All the pain and everything that I have been going through for over ten years is stressful as you know what. Maybe there is a connection. Hope this is helpful to someone.

I was scheduled for surgery on the 14th of April 2008 for knee replacement and after (2) blood tests revealed a high white blood count, I was unable to have the surgery, my Nurse Practitioner ordered weekly blood tests and this week, the count was still elevated to 14.5. I do have an appointment with the oncologist (misp) but unable to be seen b 4 may 5th. I pray for all of you out there that are being concerned with WBC elevation that things are not as bad as we might think. Leukemia is about 99% curable. I won't know for weeks yet what they find. I kind of think my scheduled surgery was a blessing in disguise, because I could have waited until next year for the surgery, by using a cane and my condition may have gone undetected longer.

Hello all, came across this website and thought I'd post.
My daughter who is 9 years old had started off with cold like symptoms. A cold, that is all...I wasn't worried at all...but it didn't go away. Then the flu like symptoms started. After 3 weeks of the cough off and on, she began to develop fever, aches in the joints/bones, bad headache, dizzy spells, loss of apetite, weight loss (17pounds in 5 weeks), very painful stomach cramps upon eating or drinking anything, then the vomiting began, she also had confusion, not remembering what she had said, etc. I had taken her to the emergency room and the doctor had given her an xray to check for pneumonia. It was clear, they then said she had the flu and to take her home. After two days I took her back, she was not better at all and seemed to be getting worse. She also developed a strange rash that appeared on her body, across her face and down her chest, back and thighs and down the legs...she said it was itchy but it didn't look like it bothered her much. The doctor we saw this time thought it was slapped cheek something or another, or parvo. He took blood work, urine sample, nose swab and throat swab. When the blood work came back, it showed that her white cell count was way up and some other abnormalities that I can't remember. I do know that her platelet count was high, her red cells were abnormal, etc...
He gave a prescription for antibiotics and sent us home. I started her on this and she got better in two days. The doctor then called and said her throat swab was positive for strep and that she also had scarlet fever.
Once the antibiotics were done...three to four days after stopping it the symtpoms came back...just not as severe. I took her to our family doctors and she ran some tests...the white cell count was up again and the blood work (I snuck a quick peek) was all over the place. The doctor said that the strep probably went into her blood stream. She gave no antibiotics and said that she will need to fight it off, I wasn't pleased because I didn't think my daughter would get over this illness and pass away the symptoms were soooo bad the first time.
The doctor also put her on a mild diet of no dairy, no meat, etc. Took her back a few days later and her white cell count was still up and was told to get more blood work....I'm not sure what tests she was checking....my daughter is still ill and I'm worried....the symptoms are not as severe as they were the first time. She's been out of school all this time.
I have her on advil all the time because of her headaches and sore body. Once the advil wears off she gets a headache...

Hello and thank you to all who have posted before. recently I went in for my thyroid test. feeling tired, increased hair loss and broken nails, etc.; I thought my thyroid med's might need to be changed. turns out my thyroid is normal but WBC's are high and have been for almost a year now. My Dr. has scheduled more test for this week. After reading up on the subject I'm feeling nervous.
Several years ago I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that affects the small blood cells to the extremities - causing tissue damage. For many years it has been dormint. Is it possible this is the cause and not a new problem?
If you have any experience with AutoImmune and high WBC please write back.

I have had a high white blood count for the last 4 months (12 to 16). The only problem im having is i need an operation on my meniscus, which the dr wont do if my white blood count is elevated, and ive already been on 3 antibitotics plus a steroid, nose sprays, and ear drops and a decongestion pill. Took a blood test today, was a little over 12, have to be under 10 to get operated on, wish me luck gonna repeat my test on Tuesday. So dont worry , high white blood count could be from a common cold, allergies or sinus infection.

Good luck to everyone.....

At about 4pm yesterday my throat started to hurt and by 8 or 9pm I felt like I had strep. Didn't sleep all night, achy, cold/flu-like symptoms (no fever, but chills and nausea. So I went to the doctor and strep test came back negetive. I had actually been for a physical earlier in the week and they lost one of my blood tests. So they drew more blood (I felt so weak and sick I almost passed out), took one more swab for another strep test and I was sent home with instruciton to just stick to tylenol, aleve and decongestant. My doctor called this evening and said that my blood tests were done and my white blood cell count is high (15.6). He's putting me on a 10-day antibiotic now. The sore throat and sick feeling came on so fast! We're both pretty confident that it's an infection, but I'm worried about what else it could be.

My wife's WBC count has gone from 19 to 26 in two weeks and she's frequently fatigued. Going to hematologist next week.

What was your ZPack prescribed for? What infection was found? Thanks.

Guys, I would like to share the following. It may not be the cause of your high count but it may shed some light. About 5 years ago I had an annual physical and my Dr. told me that my WBC was high (20,000). He sent me to several specialist and no one had an answer. I had no other symptons at that time. About 30 days later, I started to get fevers, headaches, lost of appetite, sore body, tired, and lost weight. Long story short, I spent two weeks in the hospital before a specialist diagnosed my condition as "Sarcadosis". They put me on steroids (prednisone) and it cleared up.

I have a WBC of 12.5. Went up from 10.9 7 months ago. MY PCP decided to send me to a Hematologist telling me it could be leukemia or problem with bone marrow. This was just this past Thursday. I decided to change PCP's and get another opinion and if the new PCP doesn't want to do further tests and sends me to a specialist I will go. I was fortunate to get an appointment with a new PCP within a few days.

Will keep everyone informed.

Six months ago I had some labs done and my white blood cell count was high. My doctor put on on some anti biotics and that was the end of it until I had some more routine lab work done last week for the diet I am on and it is higher now than 6 months ago. I read that Leukemia is a possibility. I am going for more labs this week but I am frightened. Any words of wisdom from anyone.

For seven years now I have been dealing with a high white cell count. My counts range anywhere from 16 to 30 on a consistent basis. I also suffer from severe fatigue, muscle and joint pain, recurrent headaches and intermittent low grade fevers. I have had multiple tests (CT scans, blood testing, thyroid levels, cortisol levels and bone marrow biopsies) with no clear results. My primary care physician sent me to a hematologist/oncologist in 2002 who ruled out leukemia and most know blood and autoimmune disorders. Her exact words were "The good news is that it is not cancer. The bad news is I have no idea WHAT it is.". Her best guess is that since steroids and antibiotics have no effect most likely there is a latent autoimmune disorder that will eventually surface. This is a very frustrating position to be in. I have to submit copies of these findings to each new physician I see and continue to struggle through each day. Unfortunately, white cell counts are only an indicator of a problem, not a true answer to the problem. Good luck to all who are dealing with this.

My husband and I have both taken the z-pack before its full name i believe is zythromax and it is an antibiotic I took it for what started to be the flu and ended up in a chest infection and my husband used it to treat bronchitus (spelling). My last 3 blood panels have all come back with very elevated wbc and have remained high for about a year now--my current pcp is sending me to a hemotologist and like many of you i am nervous but I feel healthy and am not letting stress get to me. I will try to let everyone know how it all goes and till then pray for you and your loved ones to be healthy and happy. Good luck to all! XD
