Hi, I have been sent to perform Pap smear test. Now, I am afraid why my gynecologist wants me to do it? I had vaginitis three month ago and have treated it successfully. Could I have more complications like cervical Displasia?

Cervical dysplacia is caused by HPV (human papilloma virus), but some other intruders like Lichen sclerosus and conditions like vaginitis could also be putted in relationship with cervical dysplacia. If cervix, which is situated in the entrance to the uterus, starts to show unusual growths it may present a problem of malignant nature, a cancer. Pap smear test is recommended to be taken every year in women’s fertile period of life, since it is the only way to keep things screened. Dysplasia is considered to be a precancerous condition. Long period of time 10 years or longer can be taken for cervical dysplasia to progress into cancer.
