I had chalazion surgery a week ago today. It was a less than pleasant experience as I had a full black eye and an extremely swollen eyelid for many days. The black eye is finally going away and the upper eyelid went down some. My question is about the eyelid itself. They're is very lumpy grainy spots now on it , and I'm worried some got left behind.I have been doing the warm compression many times a day and tobradex is supposed to be 4x a day for 7 days so I'm done with it tomorrow. My eye does still have pain and I'm definitely afraid the lid itself will have scarring as when I left the office there were two cuts on the outer lid along with the incision under the lid. Is some pain and discomfort normal at this stage as well?

It's normal to experience some pain and discomfort after chalazion surgery, and it's not unusual for the eyelid to feel lumpy or grainy after the procedure. This can be due to swelling, inflammation, or residual tissue from the chalazion.
In general, the warm compresses and tobradex drops are important for promoting healing and preventing infection, so it's good that you're following instructions. It's also important to avoid rubbing or touching the affected area and to avoid wearing makeup or contact lenses until your healthcare provider gives you the okay.
As for scarring, it's possible that some scarring may occur, but this can vary depending on the extent of the surgery and the individual's healing process. It's important to follow up with your doctor as recommended to monitor your healing progress and address any concerns you may have.
Good luck!
