Chest pain under the left breast bone... angina or Costochon

Hi everyone,I am reading your responses because I just got an attack of the same thing a few minutes ago,and I thought I was going to die.I am 47 yrs old.This has been happening to me periodically for years now,never last long,and I always thought it was gas trapped because for some stupid reason,I can't burp,and if it doesn't come out the other end,then I figure it is gas.Recently I was on antibiotics for a kidney infection,and the pain got worse.Everyday for hours on end where I can't do anything but just stand there and wait for it to go away.Laying down makes it worse.I started to think it was related to the meds,but meds are done now and I still get the pain.I have been diagnosed with fibromialgia years ago,so it could be related to that,but I never reported it to doctor because I assume I will get the same results as everyone else.It is severly painful right under the left breastbone.I personally think it is gas build up,however,I am seeing my doctor next week and plan on demanding tests,because I can't deal with this anymore.It is scary as hell.Good luck to all of you in finding the problem,if you have any insights,please post them,and I will do the same.

 

It seems most everyone has described anxiety/panic attacks this can cause multiple symptoms including the feeling of a heart attack or going crazy, I have dealt with this off and on for about 20 years,spent many days in a ER room for them to take test give me adavant (for anxiety) and send me home.  When we experience anxiety it causes out muscles to tense which in turn can cause the discomfort that we feel under the left breast, the more we tenseup and worry the longer it stays and the more symptoms we begin to feel.

i have been having the same problem for 4  years and i had my gallbladder removed 4 years ago due to it not working properly. and the pain under my left breast when i eat just about any kind of food or if i dont eat at all. been to the er 5 times over it cause it throws me in to panic attacks and i think i am having a heart attack. alll they can come up with is acid reflux is causing my pain. wow all these years and now they say it is acid refuxl. but i have been taking prilicec 20mg. for some time now and it dont help. i have had heart burn all my life. but i am going to have some test done and see if it is acid reflux and ill let you all know the results

I remember when my grandmother used to tell me to stop juming out of the trees like that. Put on shoes. Take care of your body because when it gets older, it has a harder time keeping up with you! LOL. Hope eveyone finds some relief!

It sounds like this may be related to anxiety, has your Dr ever talked about that?

Hi I'm 16 and I have the same type of pain,it occurs once and a while and started about a couple of weeks ago.The pain is on my left side of my chest could you please be sure and let me know if there is anything I could do

I've notice my pain coming on while have coffee in the morning .

I am 38yrs old man..i am experiencing exactly the same issue below my left breast..the pointing pain comes from nowhere and just goes awaywill be seeing the cardio next week...i have little fat man breast...

I'm 53, and under a great deal of stress for the last six months. I have been having pain on my left side under my breastbone. Is this something heart related?
