Depending on the age of the child could depend on what is wrong. However remember that the nose and ears are linked together via the throat and narrow passages. It could be something as simple as a head cold or could be more. If your child has a fever or the symptoms don't change within 24-48 hours or get worse (or to ease your own worries) take him or her to the nearest Urgent Care or to their pediatrician.
