I've just researched this discharge because I'm having it as well. It's really thick and I feel like a freakin' spider weaving a web it's so thick and stretchy. I'm worried because I also have slight pelvic pain along with it right where my womb was (is). I just had a child 2 and a half months ago. Have not been on birth control for about 3 years. I was reading about PID (Pelvic Inflamatory Disease). Unfortunately I don't have health insurance at the moment, I'm in the process of applying for it, so I'm just researching right now. I hope it's not PID because apparently that can cause infertility or weird stuff to happen in there.
I also don't know if this goes along with this same problem, but I should be on my period right now (it would be the first one I've had since labour and that after period) but I haven't had it yet. I've also been exercising and eating well (I've always been quite tiny) but cannot seem to shed any more weight. I'm stuck 20 pounds heavier than I was before I was pregnant. I'm hoping everything healed up okay in there. And I'm hoping I can get health insurance before any serious damage can occur. Good luck to everyone else that posted on here as well.

Just want to say. I went to get a complete STD check up. They told me I had (BV) Bacterial Vaganitisis. But not a STD. Took antibiotic now I have the same stringy stuff. No way it's a STD I haven't done anything. I was think it was yeast infection but it doesn't appear to be. I think it is because I'm fertile just never experienced this before.

There are a few of you who mention switching to the Nuva Ring. For a lot of people as I have found, the Nuva Ring can really cause issues in your vagina as far as your chemical make up. For me, It dried me out and cause swelling, made sex very painful. It caused a lot of problems and messed up my chemical make up.

I used to have the same thing... it turns out, I had an undiagnosed food sensitivity (wheat). Once I cut wheat out of my diet, the discharge stopped. I still have a little of the clear discharge around ovulation but that thick discharge only returns if I eat something that contains wheat. Good luck!

It disappoints me to see so many women have no idea what is going on with their bodies! Its scary and shows how little we care about education. This cervical mucus is normal and ever changing in consistency as we grow and change. Im 19 and my husband and are trying to concieve, so mucus is a great indicator of when im ovulating or not. When we arnt planning on having a baby i will be using mucus checks along with basal temperatures as a method of birth control. The pill made me gain weight and major moodswings. More and more the medical industry wants us to rely on medication, in no way am i an herbal naturalist but i believe we are often being perscribed or taking uneeded medications that can affect us more than we know. Theres so many options when it comes to our bodies, and our children's when we are pregnant. Make the right choice.  Research for yourself, seek the facts, ask questions and know whats going on with your body. Take control of your fertility and your health ladies! The only one that can hold you back is you.

I have been having this problem every since I had my last child. I had him 16 years ago and it might last two days. Been concerned with it but the doctors keep telling me I'm fine and all tests come back normal. The discharge is always clear and stringy.

i am currently having the same problem out of the blue..? An i also recall having this a prob few times in the past. It is january and i like your answer it makes sense. I have had a 3 of my children conceived somewhere between jan an feb. These are the times i have noticed it now that you mention it. So maybe it is true i am at my most fertile in the jan an feb months causing me to discharge like this. It isnt extreme as some of the other girls but can be very uncomfortable. But my tubes have been tied would this still happen..?

hello, the clear gooey discharge  means your fertile or in the middle of becoming fertile. it surround you vaginal wall to help the semen climb up to get the egg. and helps protect the semen from an type of acid you vagina puts off that kills semen.

to the op:i know this is over a year ago, but it may help someone that reads this later on.

i used depo provera and i have also used implanon, and BOTH times ,when the depo wore off and the implanon was removed, i had this HUGE gooby giant thick string blob of stuff come out.....it was different than the fertile mucous when you ovulate.
it actually IS cervical mucous, but not the normal stuff you get...
the contraceptive implants (and also the pill) cause a huge blob of thick mucous to block the cervix, as part of the way they work, and when you go off the contraception, the mucous plug breaks down, and then comes out...its really sticky and gross!

the same thing kind of happened before i went into labour too...

It's the mucus from your cervix. Depo thickens it so that sperm cannot pass through. Since you are coming off depo the excess mucus is just coming out but once depo is out of your system completely and you return to your normal cycle it's a sign of ovulation. During ovulation it becomes thinner ard more stretchy so that sperm can pass through.
