My cold sore has disappeared four months ago however a red scar appears periodically and I was wondering what you recommend

i use Gardinia oil at the first sign!! it smells awful and tastes like sh@# but kills it fast!

My friend had a red/pink scar for over 2 months after the scab fell off. They tried lysine, maderma, and Neosporin. Nothing was fading the scar. They went to the dermatologist who said he couldn't do anything about it and it was just going to take time. the dermatologist did suggest vbeam perfecta a laser treatment they do in the office or at a spa. So my friend gave it a shot. It was about $75 for one session and it looked like a new sore after the laser session but the person operating the laser said that is normal and the color will turn from purple back to skin color in 4 days. Sure enough the purple circle turned back to light pink in 4 days and about a week later the red/pink scar my friend had was gone. So if nothing else works and you can live with it looking like you have another cs for 4 days vbeam perfecta is the way to go.

MY DAYS!!! exact same has happened to me... guess there's no hope in getting rid of these discolored dark circles, that seem to appear every time i have a cold sore..

Unfortunately I have had several cold sores this winter, I have a scar from each one :( . I also have spots where my lip line is uneven or a fragment of lip seems to be missing. My lips are no longer symmetrical. I use Valtrex at first sign of a cold sore and Lysine as well as Lemon Balm.

Did the "ST IVES SKIN RENEWING" or "Scar Zone" help you scar at all? I have same problem, on the top right side of my lip. Its crazy how frustrating it is that it wont heal back to normal after a few month of the initial sore. Would love to hear your results :)

Dude nothing works. I've tried aloe straight from the plant, mederma, whatever. No cream is gonna make this better, granted I didn't use each for more than a few weeks at a time but I saw zero improvement. The pink blotches left outside of the border of my lip have faded and gone but as for the pink divit(for lack of a better term) it's been there for two and a half years now. Maybe it's because I'm a smoker idfk. My doctor said it would "fade in the coming months" shows what he f*****g knows. It's really become a psychological issue more than anything. Getting a cold sore here and there I could deal with, but having a constant red mark on my lip that basically acts as a f*****g billboard that reads "MOUTH HERPES" is a real detriment to dating and socializing.. If anyone figures out how to get their lips back to normal please share it here

Your lips are the fastest healing parts of your body. The skin regenerates a lot because you eat a lot of food and your skin wears out there, so it would have to regegenerate. That has happened to me before and it went away.

I feel your pain man. I now have a scar that is refusing to go anywhere after stupidly wiping my sore with my towel after a shower one time. It bled real bad, when it healed it left me with this f*****g pink blotch where it use to be. Was about 4-5 months ago. I have just been putting vitamin E straight from the capsules on it a few times a day and hoping that is goes away after a year or so. In the mean time I've grown a mustache to cover the mark, since its on the top right of my lip. It has definitely helped dealing the social anxiety of it, but f**k me i wish it would go back to normal so i could comfortably make out with chicks without giving them stache rash

I really hope someone comes up with something other than the laser treatment. Everything ive read on that sh*t seems hectic and risky as it can make it worse. From what ive read Its like a 50/50 to either make it better or pretty much gone, or to completely f**k yourself and have a massive scar in its place. Im a poker player and i wouldnt be willing to gamble with them odds : /

Has anyone tried the bleaching cream stuff? That would be my next play if this doesn't go in a year.

Vitamin E applied directly to an area after healing has happened helps with scarring. I've used it in the past for cold sores and am using it on the "pink skin" regrowth on my lip now.

Sooo I have been getting colds sores so far it's has been 3 this year crazy and Everytime it gets smaller and healed it seems like it's still bump and hasn't went away last time it seem like it took 3 months to fully go away what can I do???
