Hi I'm 32 male and have been suffering from a tickly cough for about three months at a guess. I mostly get it first thing in the morning usually when I stand up after going to the toilet. The only other symptom is that when I swallow I sometime get like a pressure in the top of my chest one not to different to that you get from eating your dinner to fast but I seem to get it after eating only a few bites of food. I think it started from an old cold I had, in the past any cold I get that affects my throt always seems to take a long time for me to fully recover, however this I cant shift.

The pressure after swallowing is something I have only recently noticed

Anyone know what this could be?

Hi Lou

I ended up in a terrible state believing I had something nasty causing my cough and ended up taking loads of different meds that seemed to do absolutely nothing, the only ones that seemed to help was Fluoxetine (Prozac) this lead me to believe that maybe it was all in my head? Eventually I ended up going to the ENT and had the scope down my throat that discovered nothing. This was not good enough and the cough still persisted until finally I was sent for a barium swallow which also found nothing. over the next few weeks following this the cough got better (I think what I’m trying to say is my symptoms was made by what was in my head and Dr. Goggle was make it worse sill!) Although now my cough is nowhere near as bad as it was for the whole year or so I had it, I do still cough even Today it's like I have phlegm in my throat that just will not clear.

Although it’s not gone away it far better than it was 7 months ago and I think this is down to me knowing it’s nothing serious.

Hope this helps in some way.
Carl.

I had all this and found it was eating bananas that caused it, you could try giving them a miss for a long time.

Have your symptoms sorted out yet mate? I have pretty much exactly what you've described, I've had the cough since the start of January, I think its getting better, its certainly no worse though?
