I would like to form a group to help address this situation together. I have dealt with this issue for almost 2 decades now and believe it is not something we need to live with for the rest of our lives as it really does affect our quality of life. Personally, I feel surgery is the only way to address the problem. I believe there are people who have fixed this problem but would guess that they would not be on forums such as this one, once they are healed. It's a matter of finding the right doctor and bringing awareness to this issue.

Thank you for your post Connor. Would you be able to share if you feel it's improved your life in any way or whether you feel it is better to leave it as is?

I hate to say this but I am 68 years old and have suffered with the same probem since I was 13. I wear a hearing aid now, should wear two but am fine with just the one. I have just had the popping sensation in the ear that I dont wear the aid and now feel very unbalanced. Like all others that have commented here I usually hold my nose and suck in but this is the first time that its not working and my ear is quite painful. I have a bit of a swollen throat which Im hoping will be temporary and that once it's clear my 'tube' will go back to normal. I too have mentioned this to Dr's over the years and all they have said is I have very active 'hammers'. Not helpful at all.

I'm a 52 year old male and have had this issue as well since I was young. Finally drove my wife crazy with all of the sniffing and yawning to fix popping and pressure and I went to an ENT. Seems I have patulous eustachian tubes. They have proscribed estrogen drops nasal spray to try and make the tubes less rigid and more pliant, you know the way NORMAL peoples ears are. We'll see how that works
