I have also been nauseated for a long time. It started when I was turning 24, and now I'm turning 27. I've had 2 endoscopies, 3 ultrasounds, 2 CT scans, 1 x-ray, 1 gastric emptying, 1 MRI, 1 Hida scan, and loads of bloodwork. I've even had my gall bladder removed (which made things worse for about 6 months!). I've been to 4 GI doctors, 3 internal medicine doctors, 2 surgeons, my ob-gyn, and even had a couple of healing massages. I've been on phenergan, tigan, aciphex, nexium, protonix, lexapro, nortriptaline, lorazepam, and an anti-biotic to rule out a possible parasite. I've tried modifying my diet and lifestyle, but no luck.

My symptoms are nausea, upper left quadrant pain (like something is pressing on my stomach), extreme sensitivity along my lower rib cage, shoulders, and shoulder blades, and fatigue. The symptoms could be related, could be caused by each other, or could be totally independant.

I started noticing my symptoms about a month after I got a stomach bug.

The only thing the tests have shown is that I have an accessory spleen (i.e. an extra spleen), but some doctors say they have seen it and others say they don't. The surgeon who removed my gall bladder didn't even want to explore the area, even though that was one of my biggest complaints. Sometimes, I think it's fibromyalgia, but other times I think if my accessory spleen was looked at in better detail. And then, I think if doctors would take a step back and take a detailed look at the big picture, I might get some answers.

I feel like my gall bladder just happened to get caught when it first started to act up because I haven't had any relief since the surgery. In addition to the gall bladder removal, I had an exploratory lap in my pelvic area, by my ob-gyn.

When my symptoms began, I had been losing weight (on purpose), and since I have gained it back (and more!). I feel like it's because I'm not as active as I used to be and little things like making my bed or doing a load of laundry (wash to fold) wear me out for the day. I also drink ginger ale (schweppes is the only brand that settles my stomach, and the diet version makes my stomach turn) and eat saltines to help the nausea when it's really bad. I try to keep a little food in me at all times, which usually helps. I've tried exercise and it makes my upper left quadrant pain stronger (more sharp).

I'm so over going to doctors, but then my phenergan rx's run out, and I have to go back. Even though I can't offer any suggestions for a cure, I want to put myself out there as someone who is going through the same thing - unexplained, unending nausea. It feels good to know I'm not the only person out there, but I wish no one had to deal with it. I understand the frustration and discomfort.

The only advice I can offer is to do things that make you happy when you can. It's not always easy, but at least I feel like I am living a little bit. I've read a lot of books and watched a lot of movies over the past few years, something I would not have had time for before my symptoms began. I also volunteer when I can. I no longer put up with c**p from others - I quit my grad school program because the department was so disorganized it was too stressful, I fire doctors if I feel like they aren't listening to me, and if people I am around are causing too much stress, I back off from the relationship. I have learned to say no and to give myself the time I need to recuperate. What's getting me through this right now is faith in God. Y'all may not feel the same way I do about God, but I constantly remind myself that He has a plan, and I just have to be patient to see it come to fruition. By doing what I can, when I can, and focusing on doing things that please me, I can at least say I live when I can, as opposed to not at all.

However, there is a lot I would rather be doing, but I can't because I never know when I'm going to have such a bad day all I can do is stay in bed. I would love to be able to go back to work because I feel like people who don't know my situation think I'm spoiled and selfish for not working. I would also love to be able to work out and be active again because I feel like some doctors think I'm in this situation because I'm obese, even though I actively do my best to lose weight (or at least not gain any more!). And more than anything right now, I want to be a mother, but I fear no one would let me adopt with my health problems and pregnancy seems too risky (it may not be, but it could also exacerbate my symptoms).

I wish everyone the best of luck and if I ever get an answer, I will let y'all know.

What ended up happening? I am almost 22 and have persistant nausea and vomitting. It's been going on for six months. It just won't go away! I've tried lots of medications, doctors, and tests. So far it's all been useless. I don't have my gallbladder anymore, so I thought it might be related to that, but who knows!

Hey guys,
I struggled with nausea, stomach problems for a long time.
Had many tests and like you, no one could find anything wrong.
It was soo bad feeling like c**p all the time.

You need to look into something called candida.
A Naturopath diagnosed me with it.
I went because western medcine wasnt giving me any answers.
Its basically a yeast overload infection in your stomach.
I followed the strict diet and lifestyle and medicine for a month and was back to my same old self.

If youve tried everything else and still feel sick there is no harm in giving this a go hey?
It worked for me when nothing else would
Good Luck

I'm 19, and since February I've been getting these spurs of nausea, stomach pains (kind like hunger, only real bad, add some tingly burning) and diarrhea on and off. I went to the doctor after 3 weeks of it, never vomiting or anything! Just this horrible nausea. I got tested for parasites, and they gave me lithocane to mix with malanta for a GI cocktail, saying I had GastroEnteritis (norovirus). It turns out i don't have a parasite, and they said I might have IBS (since my mom has it) and/or acid reflux. But the symptoms dont match up... i really dont get it. They gave me prilosec but it didn't really help the nausea at all... I might have them... but that still doesnt make the nausea go away!!

I need some answer. My dad says its because indoors all the time (artist/student) and should get out more. But this is hardly mental... but i cant get the nausea out of my mind or gut!

i was wondering if you found any answers to your problem? I've been having the same problem for about 8 months now, no vomitting, just constant nausea. Ive been to the hospital twice with no results. They keep telling me its ulcers but nothing they give me helps.

Hello. I am 28 years old and have had the same symptoms as both of you. I've had every gastro test performed and I was finally given the diagnosis of IBS (irritable bowel sydrome). I had the "GI cocktail" and it did not help. When I was first diagnosised(sp) with IBS, I said the symptoms didn't match up either. My Gastroenterologist told me this: Your bowels start at your stomach. He has given me prescription acid reflux medicine along with an anti-spasm medication (helps my stomach and intestines muscles relax) I take 30 mins before my meals. People with IBS should stay away from fried foods and over processed foods (Fast food and frozen meals). November 17, 2010 will mark my 1 year with IBS. During this time by changing my diet I've lost 23 pounds and have kept it off. I stay away from caffiene as well, as they said that can act up IBS. Something else you could do is eat 6 to 7 small meals a day. They say IBS patients should "graze" all day instead of eating 3 decent sized meals. It will take a while for the nausea for go away, but it does and you almost feel like you again. I hope this helps!!

thats exactly how i feel :( i am 18 and have been having nausea and vomiting for about 3 months now. i started taking an anxiety medicine and about after a week i started to vomit every day when i woke up. went to the doc and they told me to take omeprozol for the "stomach acid". took that for about 2 weeks and nothing changed, so i stopped taking everything and went back to the doc. i was checked for being pregnant, thyroid, gall stones, acid reflux, they did an ultrasound on my abdomen, and everything came back normal. i cant leave the house, i cant really move without feeling like im going to vomit. i want this to go away but no one is helping me :( im glad to see im not the only one who suffers from this because everybody (including me family) thinks im being dramatic about it when i really am not. it is taking over my life and making me not get a job, have friends, or do anything i need to be doing

I have been suffering from this too for about 2-3 years and I am going to the doctor tomorrow about it, although I am absolutely broke... this is why it has been put off for so long. I am 24 years old and I feel like it is way too early to be feeling this way. I can't wake up without feeling nauseous, and I go throughout my whole day praying I can find 5 minutes of not feeling sick to scarf some food down. I hate it. I feel like I am trapped and it is ruining my life. I am scared that when I go to the doctor they are just going to run multiple tests and rack up the bills... and what if there is still no answer then? I am terrified and I want answers! I can completely understand where you are coming from and it is miserable!

I also went through many doctors, blood tests, ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI of the brain and nothing.  The only thing I didn't do is the gastric emptying test.

Once the physical stuff was ruled out and it become psychological, I was prescribed for anxiety & panic attacks: Xanax (made me sleepy/groggy), Paxil (gave me severe diarrhea), Celexa (made me feel too spacy), Ativan (too tired/sleepy).

To make a long story short, on 7/13/12 I went to a psychiatrist and was prescribed Remeron 15 mg Tablet (an anti-depressant) as she said it was probably from anxiety and depression (although I think the nausea came first, then the anxiety and panic attacks).  She prescribed 1/2 tablet (7.5 mg) at bedtime, and said this would help with my not being able to sleep as well as with my appetite.  (I couldn't eat because of the nausea and lost 35 lbs. over 3 months.)  Anyway, since I started taking this my nausea has diminished and is almost gone.  So far (about 3 weeks) I hardly feel nauseous.  I only get nauseous if I can't extremely nervous about something.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  I still can't believe it.

Right now, I only take Prisolec (20 mg capsule) once or twice a day, half hr. before eating - and the Remeron at bedtime.  Of course, I take my other medications for high blood pressure and hypothyroidism.

I hope this helps.

I've had the same symptoms for about two months now. The nausea will start to get better and I start going out more but then out of nowhere it gets worse again. Even the slightest bit of physical activity seems to make it worse. It’s gotten to the stage where I'm afraid to leave the couch for fear of making myself sick. I went to hospital, had an MRI, endoscope, CT scan, blood and urine tests. All negative except for some mild inflammation in the stomach. I’m on Pantoflux to reduce stomach acid but I don’t think its really doing anything. I’m supposed to start college next week but I don’t think I’ll be well enough. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been nauseous for about 5 months. Not only nausea but a bubble feeling and I constantly need to burp all the time to try and relieve it yet it does nothing. I am 15 years old and I feel hopeless. My mom thinks its mental but those certain emdicines make me worse. I also have constant conjestion and dont know if that could be related but i need answers fast. The gastro told me I had acid reflux and no medicines work for me for that. I had an endoscopy done and a chets x ray and everything comes back normal.

I have the same issue. It's been months and various acid reducing pills and still no relief. I thought it was stress but since being on Xanax for over 6 months still no improvement. Without having insurance and dr fees being so high, I guess our only option is to rely on posts like this to help each other.
