Reading this is as though I wrote it myself. I had allergies as a child and spent most of my childhood in the house from August until the 1st frost. I was experiencing this acetone smell in the past several years and finally narrowed it down to pine nuts in salads and some other foods. Then it started again with sesame seeds. I had to stop enjoying both of these items. I am a male in my upper 60's as well. I seem to have always been super sensitive. It is also very interesting that your name is Kelby. Although I do not know who you are. The name has a significant meaning to my family. At this time I am trying to figure out why I have, what I call, mood swings along with a foggy sense of well being.

I have had two years of parosmia with food especially cooked hot meat smelling of smoky sewerage.
Yesterday i went to the dentist to have a long standing broken tooth fixed and since then my parosmia has disappeared - my advice is to visit your dentist and ask them to look for tooth decay , exposed nerves and you may sort the problem out

I smelled fumes here and there a while ago as well. It had nothing to do with painting. Eventually, it went away. Now I'm smelling ammonia and it's driving me nuts. I don't know what it's related to though I'm going to get some blood work done and maybe see if it can be narrowed down that way.
