Hello! I want to know could tumors be mistaken for kidney stones. I am asking you this because I have some kidney problems. I have terrible pains and my urine has strange color (I would say that it is bloody). I have done some blood and urine tests. I went to CT scanner, too. On this scanner kidney stones are not seen and my doctor told me that the next step is kidney biopsy. Advise me, please...

Hello! I think that you should not be worried because you have very good doctor. I can tell you that it is very strange because kidney stones are not seen on CT scanner. I mean, it just cannot be seen small kidney stones and they does not cause terrible pain. I think that your doctor is right about kidney biopsy.

Hello there,

Since your doctor recommended kidney biopsy there is no point in worrying over this now. This will be very soon and after the results of biopsy you will know much more. Since you have been diagnosed with kidney stones maybe your doctor just wants to be sure and excludes all other possibilities. So sit back and try to relay because by stressing yourself you will not accomplish anything. And terrible pains that you are experiencing are normal during kidney stones passing out so maybe you should ask for stronger painkillers and you will be taking all that a lot easier.

I hope that you will recover soon and that biopsy is going to show that everything is fine.

Orlee, you are greatly mistaken about kidney stones, even small ones, not causing kidney pain! My nurse told me when I went to the ER with my first kidney stone that she's had kidney stones and also given birth naturally and she would much rather give birth than have another kidney stone! And I can attest that a kidney stone is the worst pain I have ever felt by far, even above broken bones (fingers, arm, ribs), burns, spinal tap...
