Hi. I'm 26 year old female and about ten days ago some brown spot appeared on my left leg under my knee. I didn’t pay too much attention on it and almost forget that it was there.
I become alarmed when I have found out that the brown spot started to grow.
It has grown for few days and than stopped at the size of nut. What could be this? Is this some kind of tumor or what?
It isn’t causing any pain what so ever it don’t bother me at all, but when I'm wearing some tight jeans it become visible.
Any suggestions?

I had the same problem last year accept the fact that this formation has shown on my hand.
I contacted my doctor and he told me that was some bump called dermatofibroma.
I don’t know a lot about this but main you should know is that this is dermatofibroma is a common, noncancerous, button-like bump.
My GP also told me that the cause is unknown but he mentioned that it may develop from minor trauma like an insect bite.
Treatment is simple- don’t touch it if it isn’t bothering you! If it does, than it can be easily surgically removed.

Hello,
I have about 7 dermatofibromas. When I was diagnosed with dermafibroma, I only had 4. Mine are pinkish and relatively flat (hard under the surface), and none of them is painful. The doctor said that they may be caused by hypothyroidism, but he is far from convinced of that. He told me that they can go away spontaneously on their own, but it is not very likely.
Anyways, here is why I am posting: I had two on my arms or two on my legs that fully regressed (went away). I did a lot of research and found out that they can indeed regress. Some websites say it is uncommon, but I am wondering why I had four that regressed after they've been there for about 2 years.
Dermatofibromas can go away. It all depends on the "unknown" cause. My doctor said it could have been "hormonal", but there is not explanation as to why they do regress spontaneously, and in some case, they do not.

well, i have the surgery today because one got infected (something that she told me that is very low cases that can happend) but it happend to me and scared me a lot!...i have antibiotics for a week and finally i have them removed, hurts a little bit, but my skin will look better without them...i will let you know guys in about a week if the surgery worked! :-(
