Hi, I have been on suboxon for about 2 years. I planned to get off alot sooner, but I got pregnant with my twins when I was down to 4mg, so during my pregnancy I stayed on the 4mg because I didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 13 weeks, which means my first trimester was over and my pernatologist told me since I was on much a low dose, I should stay on suboxon and not switch to methadone, which I was really glad about because I have been on methadone and to me it is more addictive then suboxon. My babies are 9 weeks old and doing great and did not have to take any medications because of my suboxon use. Now it is time to quit the suboxon cold turkey. I have been taking 2mg or less a day for 2 weeks and 2 days ago I stopped suboxon all together. I know tomorrow is going to be worse then today and in the next few days I will feel like death, but my question is "How long will it take for me to not feel the effects of the suboxon anymore?" I have 2 babies to care for and I cannot imagen feeling this way for a month or better. Thanks for your in put.

It's hard to say how long you may feel like c**p, since everyone is so different. I have been tapering off of subs for a year and finally took the jump at 2mgs daily. Today is my 3rd day without subs and to be honest, it's the best morning so far. Keep in mind I did a very slow taper. My highest dose was 16mgs daily and I tapered about 2mgs every two to four weeks. I made sure my body was adjusted to the new, lower dose before going down two more. I have been drinking tons of water, taking clonadine (prescribed by my sub doctor), and ibprophen. I also drink herbal, "sleepy time" tea at night to help me sleep. Hang in there and don't give up.

I was told that once your on 2 mg and plan to continue to taper, then you should drop to 1mg for 6 days than 1/2 mg for 6 days. After that the withdrawals are as marginal as they can be. To just stop at 2nd can be very harsh because the half life of the drug is so long.
