Dilaudid vs Morphine

Not very good pain advise, take nothing. If your in pain chronically make sure your in a managed environment and not a pill factory. Not for the high but for treatment. This is why doctors are wary of prescribing meds, some do abuse. Taking nothing is as wrong as taking more than necessary.

I understand how you feel because I'm going through the same thing. I have been scheduled to see a pain management specialist and hopefully I'll get some help. I have also tried every pain medicine there is and none of them work. I have Arthritis, Lupus and Fibromyalgia and I live in constant pain.

Dilaudid is by far the best i was a burn victim. and out of the two Dilaudid worked the best

ON 2-11-14 AT 8 AM I HAD LEFT SHOULDER REPLACEMENT ( BALL AND SOCKET ) . WHEN THE NERVE BLOCK WAS NO LONGER THERE I FELT PAIN COMING AT 9PM, THEY GAVE ME PERCOSET,DID'NT HELP, NEXT ,PILL FORM OF DILAUDID DID'NT HELP, THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL A DOCTOR. THE PAIN WAS UNBEARABLE, AT 10 PM THEY GAVE ME INTRAVENOUSLY A SHOT OF DILAUDID,I GOT 80 PERCENT RELIEF FOR ONLY ONE HOUR ONLY, WHICH I THANK GOD FOR, ON OCT 29, 2013 I HAD RIGHT SHOULDER REPLACMENT( BALL AND SCOKET ) WHEN NERVE BLOCK WAS GONE, ALL I NEEDED WAS ONE PILL OF OXYCODONE 10-325 MG TO RELIEVE PAIN, AFTER THAT NO PAIN,NO PILLS,SAME SURGENT, SAME HOSPITAL,HE PREFORMED ABOUT ONE THOUSAND SHOULDER REPLACEMENTS, AND HE IS A YOUNG MAN.I HAD TO GO THROUGHT PAIN TO GET RELIEVE YEARS OF PAIN AND I AM SIXTY NINE.

To the callous individual who commented about those in pain being nothing more than "junkies"... I pray you never are seriously injured and have to suffer long term pain.  I am a 26 year combat veteran, I have served in over 38 combat tours over several campaigns in defending the freedoms of this nation, (The United States of America), I have been shot, stabbed, "Bitten" [by a human] exposed to HIV, broken several bones in my body, experienced sever TBI (traumatic brain injury), fractured my face to the point I had to have facial reconstruction, and unfortunately have had my back broken twice!  I am appalled that you are so shallow as to believe all people taking Dilaudid are short of hiding under a bridge waiting to start shooting up some form of illigeal drug(?)  What happend to good old work and taking pride in what an individual does?  You tell "Aristotle"!  Your hypocrisy extends only to the length of your hand when you point a wayward finger, just remember - you have three more pointing at yourself.  I not only work hard, but I also sacrificed 26 years of my life for the values that this country and our forefathers stood for. I live with pain 24/7 and do the best I can "not" to take any pain medications, however, there are overwhelming times when pain is all that consumes my every thought; long-term pain has an adverse and dibilitating effect on a person and his or her quality of life, I know because I walk this path everyday of my life.  So before you throw out your cheap psychoanalyst opinion, you might ant to look up the word "empathy" as opposed to "pathetic" opinion.  I wish you the best and God help you if you ever suffer a long-term dibilitating injury; if you happen to be so unfortunate, I'll look for you under that "bridge"...however, I will receive you with open arms and a will to help you!

You obviously live a very sheltered life; one without any intervention regarding individuals with severe pain. Example. The kids coming back from overseas with limbs removed or blown off by IED's.

I myself was getting high like you say from my accomplishments until suddenly and without warning the white blood cells starting attacking my spinal cord. 3 hospitals and 2 months later, prognosis was a wheel chair for life.
Today, I walk without any assistance, although to do so with pain meds would be virtually impossible.

My advice to to you would be to not judge these people you deem "addicts" but to rather, hope you are never put in the situation where pain medications are necessary.

Dilaudid is way stronger than Morphine I had a morphine pump it did nothing but if its by IV its more intense Dilaudid is heavy duty they give it the pain pump but its VERY STRONG through IV it feels like your having a heart attack at first but not really by pump if you are on the dilaudid pump long enough you will eventually feel pain first its very dangerous Dilaudid is just 3 days my Real DR partner took me from a safe1 mg IV to 4 mg pill every 4 of that think about that for 2 days I was getting a gram of Dilaudid he O.D. the daylights of me I have a prescription and its every 6 hours not every 4.

If you had pain like we have pain you would shut your mouth and know most of us work for a living and getting high on accomplishments does not ease the pain.

There are many people who abuse taking this c**p but I will tell you that for 4 years I have lived in chronic pain because of degenerative disc deasease. I have done it all. PT, pain management, that includes unbearable shots, nerve ablations, discograhm, and pain meds, anti imflamatories. I had surgery 2 years ago. A double fushion.The pain was worse than before. My surgeon left the city so they handed me the next doctor who told me everything is fine. It took me 10 doctors and 2 years of telling them its not fine. Now I had do the PT and pain management for the last 2 years. I have had almost everything except for oxicoton and I don't even want to go there and finaltal patches. Sorry if I am spelling wrong. At this point nothing is helping my pain. I just found out that I have screws loose and it did not 100% fuse. I did work for 3 years of that pain. I even went to work 3 weeks after surgery. I tried so hard to continue working but I was about to loose my mind and the thoughts were bad. I could not go there bc of God and my family. I am blessed my husband has a job and great Heath insurance. There are some people with serios conditions and for me I hate taking pain pills and yes I bet my body is addicted to the pills. I have to have a 2nd back surgery and praying that I can get off this sh*t. Nothing takes my pain away!!!! Pleae don't judge if you really don't know someone situtiation. I am only 32 and started when I was 28. There are times I have to use a walker and a wheelchair. I can't walk much any more but having this pain and taking care of a child is very hard but I push trough it. Sorry I just wanted to tell you my life and its not about Enjoyig pain pills. I hate it but the pain is so much worse.

I have been taking pill form morphine and dilaudid for sometime.  The morhine 100mg helps my pain for at least 12 hours if I take two.  If I take any amount of dilaudid I get no relieve.  Is it true combination of morphine and dilaudid, the dilaudid doesn't work because they are not a good combination.  I have had 7 back surgeries and I am in severe pain that disability tens me , I can't even stand up at times.  I take morphine it workd, dilaudid does nothing. Please help me with my question.

You might want to adhere to a green (vegetable) diet that includes a lot of celery. Stay away from Sugar (causes inflammation). Try a smoothie with celery, blueberries or mixed berries, wheat grass powder and the occasional apple or orange. This may not taste great but it will lessen your pain. Take care.

you would only use these drugs in a extreme pain situation. I was in an accident 12 years
ago was given morphine and hydrocodone during my recovery. did not get addicted to either
and have not taken any since. This is how it is done. would not hesitate to use narcotics if
I was in pain would not touch them otherwise.
