It's a phenomenon called "orthostatic hypo tension". This happens as when you stretch you're demanding that the blood leaves where it is and goes to where it's needed. When you're sitting and relaxing your blood pressure settles at a "normal" range of about 120/80. When you stand up suddenly, or stretch suddenly, your blood is needed at the organs that you are demanding, or when you stand up, your blood rushes to the bottom (laws of gravity) of your body, therefore your blood pressure goes WAYYY down very quickly. What causes the dizziness is the blood suddenly leaves your brain and goes to the part of the body that it's needed for that second . You'll find, though, that after you've been standing for a second or two, or after you're done stretching, your blood pressure will settle again.
Happy stretching!!. this happens to me to :-)

Wow...I'm glad I found this...I have had this since before I started school...I remember once when I was 7, I stretched at the top of the stairs at my house, and then everything went black. The next thing I knew, I was on the floor at the landing of the stairs. My dad was pissed for whatever reason. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has this. This literally happened to me like, 15 minutes ago.

My husband has had this problem for a while now. He describes all the symptoms that you have described here. We finally had to take him to have it checked out because it happened during a physical for employment. We had to get the doctors to release him from work. They are still in the stages of testing his blood and such, but they think it is Vasovagal syncope. You might want to look into it and see if it is the same.

Just a couple months ago, actually, I was at a party at my friends' house. It might sound weird, but I was riding this scooter around, just for the heck of it, really. When I got off to talk to my friends, the color started draining out of my vision, everyone sounded muffled, and i was losing my balance quickly. I thought I was drugged or something. Before, I had only experienced the slight darkening of vision after getting up that most of you describe. To be honest, this scared the c**p out of me. I knew that I had to go lie down somewhere, and get a glass of water. Not sure how I did it, but I managed to walk/stumble/fall into the house, and find a couch. Once I got into a prone position, vision and hearing slowly came back. I could think much more clearly, and aware of what had happened. Balance took slightly longer to come back; judging by how I fell straight to the floor as soon as I left the couch. I'm going to see the doctor today, and mention that. I will come back with a response, wish me luck!

This is such a relief! I have had this for a couple of months now (i'm 14) and it kinda started to freak me out. One time, I had a stomach virus, and i was working on a toy i was given for christmas on the floor. Then, I stood up, stretched, and everything happened that everyone else described, but on top of that, i fell forward to the wall in front of me, and had my hands outstretched on it to keep me from hitting it. I started to slide down, and my arm was rubbing against the corner of my dresser. As I went down, it started to cut/chafe away the skin. All I could think was "ok ow. Ow! OW! STOP THAT!" Once I was on the floor i looked at my arm and a little bit of the skin had been peeled away
