This happens to me all the time, im 15 now. I get the dizzyness when ever im tired and i stretch or yawn. I'v only passed out twice from the dizzy spell though.
tip: don't stretch when you feel the dizzyspell or the black dots come across your eyes! as long as you just wait it out, you won't completely pass out.
I don't think there's anything seriously wrong with this happening though, lots of people experience it. I'm told it's the blood rushing to your brain quickly when you stand up or stretch.

The same thing happens to me. Its nothing to be worried about. It is because when you stretch backwards as i assume, it stretches out your blood vessels. Which means that your blood vessels gain more volume. Then it takes time for blood to fill in that extra volume(takes time to get back to your brain). You will find that it only happens with that backwards stretch you tend to do when you have been sitting very still for a long time. It wont work with other more aerobic stretches. That is because you are stretching your stomach area and there are some of the highest volume blood vessels around there. That is the main reason, but im sure that standing up (probably in a fast way), and tilting your head back contributes at least a little bit. If you drink more water and eat more salt it will increase your blood volume causing this not to happen as much. But I actually find the faintness very pleasurable except for the short headache afterwards. I know it sounds wierd but i like the feeling of passing out. Its quite a rush.

This has been happening to me for a while also, but tonight I blacked out and came to with my hand in pain (I think I landed on my hand as I fell, I fear I fractured my hand and this is getting too serious for me, I hope to see a doctor soon and hopefully I get some clear results.

No way! This is great! I have never met anyone else who as this, but it sounds like all of you guys are having the exact same experience as me. Is it weird that I like it?

I've been to about a million doctors and I have had all kinds of tests but no one seems to know what it is. My blood pressure's normal, I eat right and exercise... maybe we're all just magic? hahaha

Cool! Glad to know I'm not alone.

When this first happened to me (what you all have in common with me) i thought it was due to my epilepsy, but i think it's just a pinched nerve maybe along with muscle strain or something like that. And another weird thing that comes with it is like this heavy feeling like you can't get out of it, of course along with blacking out a little, having weird tingling, and hearing funny. It's probably lack of oxygen due to poor circulation (worse in cold climates), pinched nerve, or blood sugar. My suggestion is to eat a balanced diet, drink 8 8ounce glasses of water a day with that and not worry about it. %90 percent of people today don't drink enough water which is rougher on the joints, decreases organ effectiveness (for example the lungs that need to be moist to work properly), drys out the skin, causes depression/anxiety and the list goes on. Hope i helped :-)

You guys have just made my year.

I've been trying to find out more about it, and if there was anyone who had the same thing.

It all makes so much more sense now! Thank you.

I tend to lose control of my limbs and will just shake all over the place until it finally seems to calm down. I decided to just 'go with it' the other day and ended up falling off my chair and onto the floor. But, normally I have enough control to not fall over.

It is such a satisfying sensation though I feel like my whole body is being brought back awake again. As someone else said, like a "reset". But most of all I am happy now that I know I am not alone!

I'm 18, 5'9 and this happens to me as well.

It started ever since I got into heavily using the computer / playing games.

The first time I completely passed out, was when I was 16. I was watching tv for a long time and quickly got up to go use the bathroom. Before I could make it past the kitchen, I started to feel extremely light headed and couldn't see a thing.. Next thing I know I'm on the floor and I remember feeling a pain in my right shoulder, my parents were looking down at me and I asked.. "WUT THE HELL?"

Apparently, I blacked out and smashed my right shoulder on the kitchen table and landed slowly on the floor as if my muscles slightly failed and revived as I hit the floor. They said that before I fell, I yelled my sisters name, fell, and then started to slightly shake.

2 years later, while still mildly experiencing the same thing, I began to find out how to control it.

I found out that it's just a sudden change of blood volume when or after I stretch.

It isn't a serious issue, but for the safety of yourself, you must learn how it happens and what to do when you know it's about to happen. If this occurs naturally to you, you will never be able to get rid of it.

If you have to get up and go to the bathroom, or anything else that starts with a sitting / laying down position and then stand up, do it slowly. If that isn't an option (because getting up slowly infront of people in a movie theatre is weird) get up a bit faster while bending, don't completely extend your body from a sitting or laying down position to a straight position, you will most likely black out.

Also, when you have to get up, don't take a deep breath or stretch your muscles. For those who have this low blood volume issue, we automatically want to stretch and take a deep breath when we get up, but don't. It is generally safe to stretch and take a deep breath between 20-60 seconds after you get up.

The problem still persists for me, even though I eat like a pig, drink water like it's milk (I used to drink alot of milk) and workout like a pro, I still get this issue, but it has become second nature to control it, and it is no longer a problem.

Stay safe, remember:

1. Never rush out of a relaxed position
2. Never stretch or take a deep breath when you get up
3. Always be aware of your surroundings when your going to get up or feel light headed.

Yay I'm not alone. I am 17 and I play sports (mostly football) and I've noticed for the last 6 months that whenever I get up from sitting or laying down and I stretch, that I immediately feel a tingling, almost numbing sensation, I don't believe I have fainted but I have had times when after said stretching I fall like a ton of bricks to the floor (still conscious) but unable to move for about 15-20 seconds.

thanks god i am not the only one!!!!!!!
i feeel that but not exactly like that....
it had happenned lots of times but i have never pass out.....thanks god
today i was sitting using the computer, i was feeling tired i sand up and stretched, i felt like vibrating like if i was tingling all over my body, i felt like i wanted to pass out but the curious thing i have never pass out, is the same feeling as if they sleep hold ya exactly the same one!!!!!!
so  i would say .when they sleephold you the oxigen of your brain is no longer there thats why u feel dizzy ,the same when u stretch beacause when u stretch before u stretch u willl ussually be inhaling slow wich when u stretch the lack of oxigen makes u feel that way so  for everybody of you do this and plz reply if u still had the prob.....
sit on your computer etc where u normally have the lack of it,thn breath in and out not to fast couse u can get lack of oxygen tooo, simply breath slow and deep try to get that rythm and keep goin deep, once u feel u are under ur own control (that means u feel like u are not gonna pass out) stand up and stretch like u always do but this time CONTINUE breathing thing that u ussually dont do when u pass out and tell me if u felt bad pass out or what thanxxx

Hope this helped yOU

So, something pretty similar to this has been happening to me, except it's not only when i get up and stretch. Sometimes I'll just be walking around and then my body starts shuddering. My vision starts getting fuzzy then it goes black. My heart starts pounding really fast and it's "fluttery" as said above. Then I start losing control of my body functions and what I do, until I completely faint. This has happened at the weirdest times-- after I make myself a sandwich, while I'm taking a shower, while I'm walking down the stairs (and trust me, that one hurt), and plenty of other places. I haven't ever gotten this condition checked out, but is this something serious?

I have this, it is called postural hypertension (from memory) it is where your body cannot adjust to the blood pressure change quickly enough (e.g. from standing up after sitting down for a while). You can google it. It just needs better management i.e. don't get up too fast!

I have had this issue since i was about 18. I went to the doctor, he sent me to a cardiologist who did a stress test and an EEG and and EKG found nothing, so they sent me to a neurologist and I was told it is something pinched in my back and to stop it I should have get massages to relieve it. Well it hasn't helped yet. So good luck to everyone. It is good to hear i am not the only one who has this issue.
