Do you alternate the spots you use on your body to test? I only know to use the finger, but can you use other spots?

You can test on the palm if you'd like. I know I feel so bad for my patients who have fingers that are so sore from all sticks. The palm is the second best place to stick if the fingers have had enough. Other places on the body are considered "lagging sites" because they can give you a result that is nearly 30 minutes old. So your blood sugar isn't at that level any longer.

I've used my palms in the past but don't do it too often because I shake hands a lot and people look at my hand and can see the test marks. I've used my upper arm and forearm (where the skin is thinner), my thigh and my calf, but I've heard that those sites might not give the best results and be something like 30 or so minutes behind, but I still use them sometimes because my fingers get so sore and the palm thing with other people. Right in the middle of the thumb is another area I use and I can use that lots of times because it doesn't get as sore as my fingers.
