I had a vasectomy at age 27. At age 50, I started having recurrent epididymitis. The first doctor who diagnosed the epididymitis suggested I have a fertility test done since the most common cause of epididymitis is urine going back down the vas deferens to the epididymus. I am now 58 but have not had the fertility test but continue to periodically experience epididymitis. Could the vas have reconnected. The epididymitis occurs only on one side.

I had a vasectomy about 13 years ago.
I had it reversed about 6 months ago and I have never felt better.
It was a long drawn-out process trying to get the insurance company to cover the expense.
Considering how I feel now, I would GLADLY have paid out of pocket if necessary.
I had epididimytis numerous times over the years; seemed to be affecting me more and more frequently recently; instead of being once every couple of years, I started getting it a couple times a year . Pretty much always on the right side.
Reversal has worked well for me.
Hope this helps.

I had the same thing happen to me. I feel vasectomies are the biggest lie in the medical field. Developing chronic epididymitis for the rest of your life after a vasectomy should be info given to men during the consultation. I got talked into an epididymectomy. I wish I pushed for the reversal because I still live with chronic pain.
