Omg I wish I had read all of these posts before I went through all I've been through since November 4th, 2016. I had never been on birth control my entire life, even when I was married for 17 years. Now that Im divorced I've been with someone for almost two years and resorted to Plan B three times within a 6 or 7 months time range. I have two children with my ex husband but Im in my forties, it was a risk for me to become pregnant and for a baby. My periods started to become more frequent within three weeks apart after the first time I used Plan B, after the second time using Plan B it was about five weeks till my next period, and the third time using Plan B I missed almost two months of not having my period.
Although, I did not take the pill within 72 hours the last two times, it was after 5 days and one time it was 7 days. I know its only effective within 72 hours but I never got pregnant or maybe I did ??
I started to bleed finally on November 4th, 2015, it was light and then heavy with clots. It ended with a little spotting after 7 days which was long for me already. My normal periods are about 5 days. I started to bleed heavy around the 9th day so my period restarted. It was heavy and with clots. I saw a Gynecologist but she wasnt a good one, she just prescribed birth control pills named Orthocyclen and said I may be perimenopausing.
Well, I ended up in the ER because I continued to bleed because it was now 43 days from November 4th and my hemoglobin dropped to 7.7 so doctor ordered a blood transfusion. They also did an ultra sound and didnt see too many irregularities.
I went to see another Gynecologist and he said he wanted me off birth control due to the risks of blood clots moving to the lungs and heart at my age. He did say I would start to bleed again yet outpatient surgical options could take care of the bleeding. He ordered a blood test and it came back too low for my hemoglobins so he put me on Microgestin 1/20 because my estrogen levels were high.
Ive been taking it for the past four days yet today my heart was racing and we had to call the ambulance. They monitored my pressure and it was going up to 142 and then down and then back up for almost half an hour since they were here. It went back down so I didnt want to go to the ER.
I've researched almost everything I could about perimenopause because Im 47, Ive also researched about antibiotics side effects which I was on for UTIs and flucozanale damage because i had to take that after I took the antibiotics and I also read up on what to take for iron and probiotics which is important after antibiotics usage. Im 125 lbs 5' 4" and never had health problems nor gynecological issues let alone irregular periods.
But the one thing I never researched enough was about the Plan B side effects and now that I have and read your posts, wow I think I may have gotten pregnant and been hemorrhaging all this time. I have to really find a good doctor

Wow I wish I had read your post weeks ago. I've seen two Gynecologist and they were both total flops. I kept telling them I think it had something to do with the Plan B pill that I had taken 3 times within six months. Both doctors said the Plan B Pill is completely safe. Omg I dont think so. I had my period three weeks in between periods, then it was five weeks and then two months in between periods within six months. Then I started to bleed on Nov 4th and kept on bleeding so I went to see the first Gynecologist and she told me to get on birth controls it may just be peri menopause. But my blood test results came back normal for hormone levels, thyroid and diabetes. So the birth control just made me the sickest, I had never taken birth control my entire life before that. I stopped taking the birth control yet the Gynecologist kept putting of doing an ultra sound so I kept on bleeding till December 13 th and ended up in the ER with my hemoglobin at 7.7 so they gave me a blood transfusion two bags of it, I am still anemic. The ER doctor ordered an ultra sound and even he said that my Gynecologist was suppose to an ultra sound weeks ago. The ultra sound results came up with a cyst on one ovary and allot of clots in the uterus. But the ER doctor had to referred me to another Gynecologist to do what needed to be done. I went home and started the birth control pills from the first Gynecologist because I was so scared to bleed heavily again and it made me sick but the bleeding stopped on December 17th finally. That was 43 days of bleeding, yet this 2nd doctor said the Plan B pill was completely safe so he once again told me to keep taking the birth control pill until he could figure out what to do. Omg! What?? He looked at my ultra sound results and said it could be just hormone levels but told me he wanted me to stop taking birth control because it could cause clots in my lungs which could move to my heart. He did say I would start bleeding again, yet he orderd a blood test and my hemoglobin were too low so he is keeping me on birth control but lowered the estrogen levels and raised the progestin. I ended up with racing heart and couldnt breathe today. Ive researched everything I could except for the Plan B because the doctors said it wasnt that, but here I am reading your posts and other people's posts and its the same exact thing Im going through. I think the ultra sound shows that I have allot of clots in my uterus and I need a D&C because even on this birth control, Im still spotting. Wow some doctors are clueless!
Very helpful. Thank you!!
Thanks girly !!! This means alot
How long did you periods last? I'm on day 8 and still have a steady flow with dark blood.
I took plan B during between cycles last month and the duration of my period has felt like forever . 2 weeks tomorrow!! Normally my period is 4-5 days tops. Normally a light period. I'm still bleeding lightly, but it's enough to ruin my underwear. Panty liners to the rescue. But seriously- no sign of it stopping. And I am still having back cramps. Only happens when I'm on my period.
I guess I'm waking this post up again with a recent issue similar to the issues already posted. I took a Plan B after my boyfriend and I had sex one night. We did not use a condom obviously and I know he did not pull out. A week after taking the Plan B, I started spotting then as the days went on, my period was getting heavier and heavier to the point where clots were consistently coming out. I counted from the day I started spotting to the last day the bleeding finally stopped which was a total of 20 days. Obviously I was anxious because I took a Plan B previously in which I only bled for like 3-4 days. This one was different by 17-16 days longer. I personally believe my period was longer and heavier due to ovulation and how everything sort of lined up. I pay attention to ovulation and I recall beginning to ovulate the day prior to taking the Plan B. So what may have seemed like side effects of the Plan B was also me possibly experiencing my usual cycle (which is typically irregular). So Plan B + Irregular Cycle = Heavier/Longer Flow is the formula I came up with for my particular situation. I didn't see a doctor at all, I kind of winged it until it eventually stopped. Hopefully this helps anyone currently experiencing this ordeal.
So about 2 months ago i had sex with my partner and he accidentally came in me .. took the plan b pill next day .. Perfectly fine. So about a week later with no bleeding i had sex again with my partner and he came in me again. Took the plan b pill again. So a couple weeks later i have my period on time and also it lasted for 5 days(normal) . Next month it came two days late but i came on and now here this month comes and ive been on from March 16-April 4 (STILL ON TILL THIS DAY) it has been light sometimes and heavy as some points as well. WHAT IS GOING ON ????????????? Im not sure if i should go to the doctor or just weigh it out. IM SCARED .. im not having cramps at all. And its been effecting my sexual life .
Expect a longer cycle due to the Plan B. The lining of your uterus is shedding much longer than your typical period.
Okay, I said I was going to do a review for taking the Plan b: One Step Emergency contraceptive once I got my cycle or not and I am going to recommend for everyone's safety and relief to go to a OB/GYN or any kind of medical specialist. Besides that this is how mine worked out. Really mine was for a just in case matter, (yea I know it's for emergency's only) but I have my own reasons. I had sexual intercourse with my boyfriend March 3, 2017 one time. March 4, 2017 twice. All times were protected with condoms but I am not on birth control the condom leaked so I went for plan b. I took the pill March 5, 2017 at 1:47pm. I was expecting for my cycle to come on March 23, 2017 but it did not. I just waited it out! It finally came April 6, 2017. I had a 41 day cycle. So I was about 2 weeks and a half late! Go to the doctor to make sure everything is okay. Plan b works! Just give it some time it works on every woman's body differently!
I had sex March 9, 2017 also after I took the plan b but everything worked out fine!
Similar to me now. What was your outcome?
I'm on day 18 with no end in sight! No cramps, light bleeding with sometimes medium bleeding. I took it a week after my period which usually lasts 9-10 days so I'm hoping this is just an extremely long period. It's better than being pregnant!
Me too. First it was light, went off for a week came back on and now its like its going off one day then its heavy again. Not only heavy bleeding but painful. Almost 12 days now. I'm nervous is this normal??????
How did you stop it my gf having the same she took plan b and it came 7 days later so in a week. But she still have her period and is being to 2 weeks already
