I used to be able to use tampons completely fine until about a year later it hurt more and more each time. I can feel my cervix when I put a whole finger in, I’m really worried that sex won’t work if I can even use a tampon.

I know this message is over a year old but I just wanted to clear the air for anyone else who is in my position and found this page while googling. THE HYMEN IS NOT A PROOF OF VIRGINITY, THE MAJORITY OF WOMEN ARE BORN WITHOUT A HYMEN OR WITH A PARTIAL ONE. IN FACT, MOST WOMEN TEAR THEIR HYMEN INCIDENTALLY IN CHILDHOOD OR ADOLESCENCE WHILE DOING THINGS LIKE HORSEBACK RIDING OR GYMNASTICS, ETC. THE VERY VERY FEW WOMEN WHO ARE BORN WITH A FULLY FORMED AND THICK HYMEN (IMPERFORATE HYMEN) HAVE TO GET MEDICAL INTERVENTION, AND THE RATE OF THIS OCCURING IS 1/1000 BIRTHS. SO NO, THE HYMEN IS NOT AN ACCURATE INDICATOR OF VIRGINITY. As for the original poster, What you’re feeling is definitely your cervix. A vagina is typically 3 inches in depth but there’s obviously morphological variation in the shallowness/size! My own vagina is also quite shallow, as I can also easily feel my own cervix, which is exactly like the original poster described (rubbery lump with a hole in the center), and some brands of tampons don’t quite fit all the way and give me discomfort. However, don’t worry about sex because the cervix can almost retract during sexual arousal, and the vagina depth lengthens because of it :)

I have the same problem as this person, I am a virgin so I’m aware it may well be my hymen. I’ve tried breaking it myself and nothing’s worked, even aroused. What can I do?
