Hello, I hate to see anyone have these symptoms, but I'm happy I'm not alone. It is really reassuring to read through these stories and know that I don't need to be on an episode of 'Mystery Diagnosis', or maybe we all need to be on an episode since there doesn't seem to be a lot of answer! :)
Anyways, I went in to the ER on April 9th with a heart rate of 260. They had to stop my heart to get it to go back to a normal rhythm. Since then I have been to several doctors, wore a heart monitor for 2 weeks, had an echo-cardiogram done, went to a cardiologist, and have had numerous EKGs done.
Everything has checked out and I was giving a clean bill of health. The underlying problem when I was first admitted was my lack of potassium in my body. I am now on a high potassium diet (lots of veggies and fruit) and take 500mg of magnesium daily. I also try to drink 70 oz or more of water a day.
I get palpitations and a rapid strong heart beat at least once a week and I've just started to come to terms with it. Going to a therapist helped. Also knowing that it can't kill me even if it feels like it's going to. In the case that your heart ever gets as high as mine does you want to seek medical help ASAP. My heart has not reached that high of BPM since my trip to the ER but it does go up to the high 100s.
It's a very scary feeling and can cause a lot of anxiety. I no longer drink alcohol, caffeine, and after 5 months have just now started exercising again. I wish everyone the best of luck and just know you're not alone!
