same thing for me, i'm 34, male. have an echocardiogram. i had it and they found a Mitral Valve Prolapse with regurgitation. solution seems to be to drink plenty of water, do aerobic exercise regularly and avoid caffeine (including dark chocolate).

I also feel strong heart beats mostly when lie down in bed and during the night. I wake up because of it and can hardly go back to sleep.
I am 31 years old and this started one year ago during a fever episode which I understand is normal, but now it bothers me almost every night.
I haven't done an echocardiogram and ekg yet, but my blood analysis shows 166 mg/dl LDL Cholesterol which is high. I wonder if this problem is caused by the damages this quantity of cholesterol can produce.

For anyone who thinks you are too young to have heart problems believe me your not. I am 23 years old and have had 3 procedures done on my heart since I was 12 and they still havent fixed me. I currently take 2 different type prescriptions to keep my heart rate low and steady. Coming up through high school I didnt have the problems as much played football, basketball, and baseball I was very active and occasionally would have a racing heart. When I was younger my heart rate would get over 230 beats a minute and it is very hard to breath and dont even think about trying to get up and walk because you pass out from the blood rush. So do not let anyone tell you that you are too young to have any type of heart problems and if you think you are having problems get in to see a cardiologist because it is not something to take lightly.

I am 23 years old and I am in great shape. I have always been an active person who exercises on a regular basis and have been told that i am healthy as a horse by multiple docters. For the past year now i have also had this problem. During my research and carful questioning of my docter I've come to the same conclution as the previous person who pasted. DON"T GET SCARED when it flares up. This will only make it worse. For the sake of not going on some long winded episode and what not, I'll just say read the previous post well. He is right on the money.

Hi,

Im 24, im having the same symptoms, actually i can feel right now my heart beating strong. I have visited the doctor, done xray, strength test, thyroid blood tests , heart ultra sound. Im also getting tired very easily even though i workout. Doctor said im just fine and the only thing he found from all these tests is that one valve of the heart doesnt close properly (dont know what its called in english sorry) which according to him is nothing to be worried about (?).

Its really annoying when everybody says that you are ok when you know you are not! And especially when all tests are positive that you are ok! It sucks! And we are not talking about mind games but for actual symptoms that make our everday life more difficult.

Its also weird that so many people have the same symptoms yet no answer to this. :-(

maybe you all are simply feeling your body more and aren't used to it. I feel the blood in my veins when i'm relaxed not too distracted. But feeling the heartbeat doesn't distract or scare me. It usually feels good. If I feel bad I gotta find a way to relax and feel better like exercise or music or breathing or using my body to express myself somehow

Recently I've started noticing my heart beating harder at random times. It has happened whilst I'm completely at rest in front of the tv or in bed. It's hard enough to prevent me from going to sleep and it concerns me because it appears to be random- it's not related to exercise at all. I have been quite anxious recently and I wonder if this could be connected. Could it also be affected by high caffeine intake?

I may have the answer to the questions. I myself has had the
same symptoms as most of you have described. After many test
my newroligest found two buldging disc in my neck causing
nerves to be pinched. That was after a MRI was done. I had some
neck pain but did not think about it. I can't make any promises
but I hope this helps some one out there.

I have the same problem as everyone else but I have had problems in my neck and have a plate on my spine already. I know that I have collapsing disk problems caused from a Horse fall and it would make sense that my powerful heartbeat could be caused by a nerve problem in my neck. I'm going to go have it checked out and I will report back.

OK 1st of all, anyone saying this is all in our heads, just go pawn your bs on some other site. Try going to sleep with your entire body bouncing up and down. I've had this going on for over a year and it's getting worse. It is in my head as well, that is, my head bounces up and down on the pillow while I'm trying to go to sleep. I can't sleep on my left side because that side is always pulsating stronger regardless, plus my left hand goes numb. Sometimes I can get to sleep on my right side, but only if my head isn't bobbing too noticeably.

Recently I grew my hair longer, and when it comes down on my forehead, I can see it bouncing up and down. My whole body pulsates, so it's not just in my head. This is not a panic attack like somebody above suggested. I've had one of those, and blood pressure and pulse were through the roof, freaking out, felt like a heart attack. Plus that had a specific trigger, a 5 hour asthma attack (from 5 hour energy drink) resulting in seizures from some co2 imbalance or whatever.

This is untriggered, happens every day, all day and night, but it doesn't normally bother me in the day unless I try to take a nap, which is impossible because of excessive pulsating. I had a heart murmur when young but after that had ekg's and so forth, nothing registered. Maybe whatever it was has now gotten worse. I work out several times a week but always get tired, short of breath, and sore, even a light workout. A few pushups one day and my chest is sore all week. I used to do 50 a day... don't smoke, no caffeine, just alcohol to help me pass out sometimes.

It's a shame there are no answers here, but our medical industry is a mess. It exists now to push drugs on people so the drug companies will make money, and most of the doctors are in on it. They're not really interested in curing people, just getting them to take drugs, for kickbacks. I'm really disappointed in all of them. Speaking of which, that's the only way I can sleep for more than 3 hours is to take some kind of sleeping pill. Mirtazapine works the best but knocks me out for 12 hours and sluggish all day thereafter.

But I will get to the bottom of this. So far, here are some possible culprits I will check into: pericarditis, pneumothorax, mitral valve prolapse, thyroid, myocardial infection, pleurisy, and other infections or immune disorders. I realize some of these are not necessarily heart related but lung or breathing problems or infections can make things difficult for your heart, so in my case that may be it.

But guys, we all have the same problem.. I have had it for 3 months and its the most annoying thing in my life now. Its really making me nervous. But then I started checking up a bit, no one dies from this, actually It seems that everyone who has this are healthy and that this is all in the head.. Someone said its the mind batteling the body, sounds wierd but might make sense actually...
But the good thing is that we dont need to worry, its not dangerous!

Any comments?

I am a healthy 22 yr old male. play football and stay active.

I too have been having these exact same symptoms, heart beats very heavily at intermittant times. Usually when trying to sleep. This all started after i was in hospital getting my heart monitored after an accident. They done lots of extensive checks and signed me out with good health and a healthy heart. 3 weeks afterwards this started happening, my heart sometimes skips a beat, i lose breath and it beats very heavily to the point that i can see my heart/heart muscles pumping out my chest or see my t-shirt moving. It seems to get worse after i have been drinking. the day after or 2 days after it will skip a beat more often.

People have told me it is panic attacks, the doctor says this too but i have been given no medication or treatment. Feels very real as i'm sure you all agree and easy for someone who isn't feeling this to write it off as "in your head" or "subconcious" "anxiety" ect. i wud just like peice of mind.

read that alot of people who suffer from thsi become suicidal, not going to happen to any of us though i hope, stay strong and always remember that it will pass!
