I've recently started taking Zyrtec for allergy relief. This feeling like I have a bean in my throat has presented itself to me about five days ago. I'm trying to study for a test and then I have to stop because of anxiety. I believe it was the Zyrtec because I've never had this feeling before. So I am not going to take the Zyrtec again. I will see if that was the problem and keep you all informed.

I have also had this problem for a few weeks. This sounds silly but temporary relief is drinking a carbonated drink (I usually have 2-3 light beers) something to force constant burping and give you time to come up with a more productive prevention plan for stress and anxiety and other coping skills. I read the doctors response below and right outside of both sides of the throat under the jaw, I can feel a lump on each side. If I put pressure on them with my fingers, that is also temporary relief. I know this is not a long term solution, but it has to better than forcing vomit for relief. Good luck everyone.

I have been suffering from a lump feeling in the throat. I sometimes question how smart doctors are lol. it's pretty obvious that its air trapped somewhere between your adams apple and your jaw area. I have done alot of little tests on myself to logically figure out what is wrong. The most obvious solution is that air is leaking from your stomach area into your oesophagus from a weak sphincter muscle. That is why you burp or want to burp. The air is trapped in and you can actually get rid of your sensation by pressing down really hard on your throat, you will start to feel the pressure resisting your thumb pressing in the area. You can also fake burp to displace the trapped gas but it just respawns after 4 seconds. If you squeeze really hard like you are trying to push air to your head, you can actually notice your upper chest hurts from all the excess air trapped in there from your stomach. Most of the time if you have GERD this is the reason why you feel like this. It's never going to go away and we just have to live like this forever. Our medical technology has no replacement for a faulty sphincter.
