I’m so happy to see all this too. I was down for 7 days with the flu. Just finally felt able to function in the world about 5 days ago. Around the middle of my flu (which I haven’t had for more than 15 yrs) I got the blurry vision and it hasn’t gone away yet; I was getting worried. I’ve only been taking occasional DayQuil or NyQuil the last few days and a little ibuprofen during the flu to break my fevers. I had a low grade fever for 5 days (99 degrees) but I’d only take ibuprofen like once a day. No other meds and nothing I haven’t taken before. I have had chronic sinusitis for more than a year and during a big flare up in November I was prescribed 2 consecutive prescriptions of Azithromycin and then an Rx of Levofloxacin with no complications and it reduced the effects of the sinus infection but did not make it go way completely. With this flu it has flared up and I am supposed to get a ct scan soon to see if my sinuses have polyps or what not. I wasn’t sure if it was just the flu causing this, I did hear some others had a vision issue, but I expected it to change by now, I’ve been feeling better for 5 days and I too feel like the blurry vision may be worse, or at least fluctuating. I then thought maybe it was the sinus pressure on my ocular nerves etc. but I’m not feeling much pressure and I definitely have in the past, yet did not have the vision issues. While it’s super annoying, I’m more concerned about long term effects. Has anyone actually went to a physician?

Both my wife and I have had the flu for about three weeks and are left with slightly blurred and double vision, headaches and lightheaded.

I started with fever and chills on 2/5/18. My vision was slightly blurry a few days before and mostly when I am looking at a computer screen. I'm still tired and having blurry vision and i'm at 11 days since my worst symptoms. I have never had the flu and only took theraflu for a few days when it was at it's worst and only when I have a coughing fit at night now. My eyes are driving me crazy. Family dr said she had other patients with vision issues and the flu, but didn't tell me when it would start to return to normal.

I meant I had never had the flu before this time. I was diagnosed with the flu but it was too late to do the flu test.

had the viral flu for about 12 days( DEC 21 TO JAN 2). horrific! not easy for a 75 year old. glad i found this thread also. on day one my right upper eye lad swelled like a bilster and itched for about 24 hours. however with in 6 hours or so from the start my vision became VERY BLURRY IN RIGHT EYE ONLY!. WENT FROM 20/20 TO 20/80 in 6 hours.there was no prescription for glasses that would help. i was not able to corrected at that time. today feb 27th eye has not gone back to where it was before but i have been able to get a prescription to see. corrected now i have 20/25. totally different from before. i work for an ophthalmology office and i am an optician. the doctor can't figure out why. i do now have permanent damage to the cornea not in both eyes. doctor says it looks like fuchs disease. we are watching it

I am on week 4 of battling all the flu issues. I had the flu for two weeks but still battling the low energy and just I’ll feeling. my immune system was shot from the flu and my energy is depleted. I too have the blurry vision. I can’t see anything without glasses. It has taken all. Toll and wondering if anyone else had the delepeted energy after the flu was gone.

Same here!!! I am on week 6 of side effects from the flu. My vision is so blurry and headache will not go away. It actually has weakened my heart. The fatigue is getting depressing. I had the flu for two weeks but the after effects are far worse

Hallelujah. I knew if I looked online I would find the answer. I figured the flu was giving me vision trouble but could not find anything on regular med websites with blurry vision as a symptom of the flu. My eyes are red and swollen, I think from coughing so hard maybe? At any rate, I went from being able to read two days ago to absolute blurry vision. I am using my long distance driving glasses to search this out. Now I will sleep better.

I see a color of rainbows going straight across my eye when I look at anything, this just started after a 5-6 day headache. What is this?

Yeah, I do believe that a flu can cause this, among other things. Personally, as I've gotten older, every time I get some sort of cold or flue, I suffer major earaches now (on both ears). Perhaps it's because a nerve is attached to a lymph node? I don't actually know
