I'm having these same flutterings! Everyone is saying it is gas, this does not feel like gas! For one thing, it is in the same spot, every single time, on and off all day. It feels exactly like a baby, but i'm in a monogamous, lesbian relationship. I wish someone could tell me what's going on.

I have had one child 2 years ago. I just started feeling this same flutter too. I read all the posts on here and I know I'm not pregnant. I also took a pg test, it was neg. This feeling is gas! Everyone needs to try rubbing your abdomen in a clockwise motion continually for a few minutes then stop. Curl your legs to your chest and squeeze your legs. Then lay flat on your back and rub clockwise again. Depending on how much gas is in there it could be released immediately or it will take a few times rubbing and squeezing to clear out. It helps so much and the flutter goes away. the human body is so weird. I think most of of associate it with a feeling of a baby if we've had one because otherwise its just a strange feeling. Hope this helps!

I keep getting this feeling too.  I'm 37 and NEVER had it before in my life EXCEPT for when I was pregnant 3 years ago.  Since then I've had these flutters on 3 occasions.  They DO NOT feel like gas, they feel just like when the baby was kicking. Some scientist needs to research this because its driving us all mad! Doctors haven't got a bloody clue!

I am 44 years old. I have 3 children. I have fluttering in my lower abdomen, always low and slighty to the right.  It's been happening alot lately and also has happened on and off in the past, started so long ago like maybe 10 years or more. But a whole lot now.  I have had a hystorectomy about 3 years ago, so I am not preg!.. lol  It feels like a fluttering baby. Sometimes if feels like a rolling in there.. It's not gas and I never ever have pain from it.  My mother had told me she had that feeling before ( she is gone now) .. and now I get it.  My Mom passed from pancreatic cancer, so I just wonder if it has something to do with the pancreas.

I'm 38 yrs old and have never been pregnant, I get those flutters to, my doc told me the flutters I am feeling is do to my thyriod, she explained that if your thyriod is out of whack it will cause your body to twitch, and shack, like your eye, or your lip, and your stomach

My friend also felt these wierd flutters and went in the ER with stomach pain. They did a cat scan and found two huge tumors that had attached themselves (spidered out) to her intestines. She was very sick and had to have emergency surgery. I am also having the same pains and flutters, scheduled a colonoscopy for Aug. 28th. I would take this to be serious especially if you are experiencing pain and weird stools or no stools at all. Hope this helps. I will post when I find out what my results are.

I'm 37, have 3 kids and have had a Merina IUD for three years now. About 3 months ago I thought for certain I was pregnant, I had every sympton imaginable. 3 home tests came back negative. Well those initial symptoms went away but now for the past couple weeks I have fluttering in my belly, have had weight gain, and have been very irritable. 3 more tests continue to say negative. I haven't a clue what is going on with me, I assume it has something to do with the IUD.

I have this problem too. There is a popping feeling (kinda feels like someone is snapping their fingers) right below my rib cage on my left side. It doesn't feel like normal gas nor a normal bowel movement. It's still a week it so before in supposed to start my period so I don't think I'm pregnant. Any clues?

WHOA! You might have the BEST idea on this thread!!
I originally posted as the 42 yo with a 17 month old baby (He's now almost 4 yo!) & had a tubal ligation. (on page 2 I think?)
Just over 1 year ago, I was diagnosed as HYPOTHYROID and had large nodules on my thyroid. They couldn't tell if it was cancer, so I had my thyroid removed last January (1 yr ago).
SO - I'm gonna guess this was the reason for my flutters...?

Anyone else with these symptoms - I'd advise getting your thyroid levels checked!! It's a rather easy blood test.

Another bit of advice if you are found to have thryoid issues - GET A GOOD ENDOCRINOLOGIST RIGHT AWAY!! This past year has been a health nightmare - have not been able to get my levels right, and Everything is effected - my whole body has symptoms. ugh.

Anyway - Thank YOU, KNOWLEDGE SEEKER, for your post!!! I hope things have worked out for you!

I too felt  the fluttering - all over my stomach. I'm a 19 year old female not sexually active so I knew I wasn't pregnant. I was having the flutters for about 2 weeks and it scared the c**p out of me! So I changed my diet to high fibre and easily digestible foods and ire went away eventually. It was just trapped gas
