I had this too and got rid of it after about 6 weeks. I got really wound up about it - it's seriously not a nice thing to have - but now all I can say is *don't worry*.

I'm in my late 30's with a steady partner and no history of trouble "down there".

I got mine after I'd had some sort of allergy which gave me dry skin all over. On my neck, chest, behind my knees and yes, my penis!

So with me it was just straight dry skin like you might get anywhere else, it's just the foreskin makes things a little more difficult as in "normal operation" it's required to stretch more than other places on your body, which makes healing difficult.

I'd suggest

(1) regular application of a moisturiser e.g. E45 or Diprobase
(2) yeah sorry but refrain from choking the chicken for a week or two. Or penetrative sex with your SO - plenty of scope for improv here :-)
(3) regular showers and even better, long hot baths. There's also an E45 emollient bath additive ( like an oil ) that really hydrates your skin - just don't get it in your hair :-)
(4) Overall keep it really clean

If it's still a prob after a few weeks of this then go visit the doc.

But above all, don't worry and don't believe a lot of the s**t you see might read about needing circumcision. That's waaaaay down the list of remedies...

Good luck.

I have the same problem since I was 12. I'm 31 now and through the years I've tried what would seem appropriate. Cortizone 10 does work but temporary. I shower with aloe soap antibacterial Irish spring. I would recommend starting with an antibacterial soap and aloe is good for moisturizing your skin. On Dry warmer or humid days where irritation is likely to occur, I've tried lubricating my penis with tanning oil with vitamin E. It seems to do the trick and it's good to follow up on regular skin care From my experience I would have to say moisture is the key to this cumbersome problem. Hope this helps

NO! DO NOT USE SOAP! DO NOT GET CIRCUMCISED. Most of you probably just have a yeast infection. Yes guys get them. I have one right now. Go get some Monistat (if you're embarrassed tell them its for your girlfriend, or get her to go get it) and use that stuff how it says on the box! Good Luck!

Also, for immediate relief, plain yoghurt and coconut oil both destroy yeast cells

O.K. Fellas, There are a few things going on here that i want to address.

One, I agree with one poster - ask for recomendations only from a Dr. that is uncircumcised.

Two, the poster addressing a yeast infection ...glad it came up but your way off, though it is related. Uncut guys do get yeast infections, it happens easily after unprotected sex, esp with a woman that has a yeast infection and well...it then can become a hot potato passed between each other. (yay) To cure it a Dr. will recommend applying the same cream for athletes foot (lotrimin). Monostat is not typicaly suggested simply because you would need a vagina to be able to apply it (good luck with that). Make sure your partner gets treatment as well. Annnyway...the downside to this treatment. it is actualy a low level acid that kills the first few layers of skin and exposes the yeast infection thus kiling it. downside to that is, the foreskin is affected during this process. the skin becomes weakened and upon first erection you will find yourself with a ring of torn/split skin as you pull the skin back over an erect penis. You wont notice this until after you go limp due to the pressure on the wound during arousal cutting off the bloodflow to the area. Now, to prevent this from happening, dont get a yeast infection. (ha) When you do get a yeast infection treat the area with drying powders first. if that doesnt help, and lotromin is needed, dont but the mega fast acting "ultra" - this is your penis for craps sake, not your foot. apply the medicine to the glans (tip) but not to the foreskin. It is best if you can keep the foreskin pulld away from the glans during this time. you may consider applying a vasiline to the foreskin to protect it from the lotromin. I have had to resort to ....yes..brace yourself...using a stri-strip (like a band aid stitch) super glueing it at the base of my penis and then pulling the skin back and attaching it so the wrinkled skin is gathered between the two points. sounds crazy, but the pain can last for weeks on end if drastic measures arent taken.

three- circumcision is a bad option, you can deal with this by carefull use and care at all times. Dry sex is bad, for obviouse reasons. Being clean and washing after each and every use is the best option. I do what most people are appalled at the thought of but i often wash my penis each time i wash my hands. A non oil based or patroliem based lotion can be used daily to help give your skin elasticity again. but the best option is a cream applied steroid. it helps in strnghting the skin and provides elastisity. and no your penis will not start to look like muscle or get smaller.

I have been circumcised but I grew up overweight. As a result of the excess fat around the base of my penis, the shin has moved over the head thus looking like I haven't been cut. the skin started shrinking and I started noticing cracks in the skin. I have used many OTC cremes & ointments, some of which worked a little bit, but the cracks ended up getting bigger, and are very painful at times. I was wondering what I can do, as I don't have any insurance. I don't think that circumcision is an answer as I want to lose at least 125 pounds and that would prolly put stress on the shortened skin. What are my options

Its THRUSH (yeast infection) usually passed on from a sexual partner (but not always) who has become prone to out breaks. Once got the first time recurrent there after, develops many ways but commonly through pregnancy. Younger people tend to naturally get it (make sure you wash with water alone and avoid perfumed or fragranced soaps/shower gels etc... in that region).

Fastest way to get shut - nip down to the chemist and ask for a Fluconazole 150mg Capsule, take it with water and give it 2 to 4 days and all will be good :)
(get 2 if your sexually active, one for you and one for the partner to be sure)

I'm having a similar problem.
Firstly, I'm 16 years old and have been dry masturbating. From this, I developed a friction burn on my penis. When that healed; I noticed that the skin on my foreskin (the part of the skin which I cannot see until i pull my foreskin back) has a few tares on it! Which means whenever I pull my foreskin back - to check it or to masturbate - it splits further. But I'm scared that if i don't check it, that my foreskin will close up and i won't be able to pull it back. Also, now the skin (where the splits) is peeling and is now dead skin. I've had this for a week and considered seeing a doctor (which i am tomorrow). Today, i noticed that my foreskin is becoming tighter - I think this is due to the skin drying up. This causes the head of my penis to become blueish when I manage to get my foreskin behind it.

What can I do? If i get rid of the dried skin and the tares, maybe i will be fine.
