Hi, I've just returned from my ultrasound test and unfortunately, news is pretty bad. They've found 8 cm ovarian cyst. It almost completely covers my left ovary, so the doctors had a big problem finding it. They talked about complications that this cyst could cause, asked me if I've felt some sharp pain in stomach region, which I did, and I said that, but, to be honest, I didn't hear them. My mind went almost blank when they told me that this ovary could leave me and my husband without baby we are planning to have. Is this true? Is there someone with similar problem who managed to get pregnant and deliver a baby? I need to know.

First of all, you should know that cysts are like little sacs filed with some sort of fluid. The most benign type is a functional cyst. They are a result of ovulation, and are, more or less, normal. They tend to withdraw in a couple of months. This cyst is not dangerous, so let's hope it's the one
you have. I suppose that after further analysis you will know more, so let's not speculate until then.

I got pregnant with my first child while they were trying different techniques to get rid of my ovarian cysts. None of their methods worked so I gave up trying. When I asked the doctor at my first appointment he told me that pregnancy usually causes the cysts to go away. I recently have found a new cyst on my right ovary that is 6cm, so even if they do go away, they are likely to come back, but as far as I know, they dont keep you from having children.

Been a while and I hope the sorted the cyst out. I don't normally reply to anything like this but I too have a large 8.5 x 7.5cm cyst on my left ovary. Just had a normal ca125 result so that's a relief. I wanted to tell you that I conceived my son and daughter on my right ovary and fallopian tube. So don't think you won't have a child just because you have a cyst on your left ovary. I had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I had my last two children with my right tube. Good luck and don't stress.
