friction burns or herpes?

Hello,

I occasionally get a small red mark (not a pimple or puss filed) on my penis and wonder if it's an abrasion from masturbation or if it's more complex; herpes for example.

The mark is always in the same spot. It doesn't hurt or burn but it is tender to the touch.
