I just had my gallbladder removed in March. I have taken methadone for the last 10-15 years (only take 5 mg 2x daily now). Now I am struggling with withdrawals twice a day with continued use and dosage. Is it possible that meds are breaking down too quickly with bile constantly flowing (if that is what is happening)? If not what is going on. I don't want to increase frequency and dosage just to hold off withdrawal. Pain is still managed fine. Going crazy here.

I have gallbladder pain occasionally. The reason I am writing is because the symptom that tells me it is a gallbladder attack is a symptom I never see mentioned. My gallbladder spasms. Usually I try homecare; apple cider vinegar or magnesium, which work for the symptoms. But I am also taking a narcotic medicine daily Is this something I should discuss with my doctor. How do narcotic medicines affect the gallbladder?

It been a while but I really hope your still here to help me, 54 year women, suffering from left rib cage pain for 4 years, tried to get help, went 10 different doctors said there was nothing wrong with me, pain was so bad I couldn't stand it, sent me to pain clinic 3 years ago, proscribed Lortab 10/325 been taking them everyday since, hate these, I just want the pain to go away, dr's won't help me with it anymore, treat me like it all in my head. Because of his I have suffered extream depression. I'm lucky if any dr spend more then 10 minutes with me, and once a specialist could not find anything by seeing only seeing me once they did no further testing or gave any options, it had taken away my quality of life, now for the last 6
Months I have been getting what I describe as horrible gas pains in my right abdominals, food seems to trigger it, 5 weeks ago I had to stop eating, only 1/4 cup of rice or 1 scramble egg, anything else put my in horrible pain, I began loosing weight quickly, my normal weight is 135, I'm 5 foot tall, I told my PC dr and he finally sent me to a surgeon, he thinks it's three things, my Gallbadder, a parcel blockage or pain from scare tissue, I've had 7
Pervious abdominal surgerys, he sent me for test ultra sound , found no stones, abdominals CT Normal, hIda scann of GB normal and a bowel scan, at this point I now weight
113 pounds losing a pound a day, can't eat, weak, and bedridden
, can no longer run my business or work, the doctor told me to come back to see him in two weeks to discuss my test results, and if I get malnutrition I should go to the ER. That it no concern or compassion.
Now I think my lortabs are causing or adding to
the pain, the problem is After taking them so long I' m addicted to
Them, do I just try to quit CT to see if it's get better and deal with the withdraws? I've never had a dr tell me this could be the reason for my pain, I did my own
Research since I can't seem to be taken seriously. I believe if I don't get help soon
I will starve to death. Please let me know what you think. Thank you.

I had my gallbladder removed many years ago. (15) I cannot take pain meds because the cause sudden intense chest pain. I have yet to find a Doctor that can explain this to me. Is there anything that is effective for treating pain without the spasms? Or a medication to take with the pain meds to prevent the pain?

I've recently had gallbladder surgery (three days ago) and I've been given Narco 7.5 for the pain. There was no real underlying reason for my removal, other than pain after eating and a lot of nausea. My question is, just today I've developed a red rash on my face. Little itchy and mildly burns. I've taken this medication before and it's never caused a reaction. Is this post-op normality after a surgery like this?

If you take pain killers for back pain could it also cause an elevated gallbladder ejection fraction calculated in the 90s%? If so would it require surgery or would it eventually resolve if the pain medication is changed or discontinued or is it permanent damage ?

After reading your post on gall bladder issues.. I just had back surgery and been on oxycodone 5 mg, Percocet 5-325, also diazepam 5 mg, also HYDROmorphone HCI 2mg after reading your article these all contain opioids which can cause gall bladder attaches...I had a ultra sound no stones, and next step they want to do Haida scan...I had one like 15 yrs ago and was told I had a slow working gall bladder then. My pain under my right breast has been terrible....I am going to use Advil to see if that can control the back pain.....would you agree? I do not want another surgery uggggg....

I found your article to be very interesting. For the last 1.5 years I've been to 6 different specialists and have had a battery of tests done and have yet to get any definitive answers. It started out with a visit to my GP, where I had mentioned having abdominal pain for quite some time. My GP examined my abdomen and very quickly found that my liver was extremely enlarged. She sent me for bloodwork and a CT scan. The scan revealed both my liver and spleen were very enlarged. From there I have seen a handful of different specialists, liver specialist, endocrinologist, hematologist, urologist. Was told the enlargement of my liver is what is causing the enlargement of the spleen... but then told by a different doctor that my spleen enlargement was not caused by my liver, but not given another explanation. The liver biopsy has been read by 3 different pathologists and none of them have given me a definitive answer. The 2nd pathologist identified an unusually large amount of glycogen in my liver and pointed at the possibility of Glycogen Storage Disease. However no definitive answer. Over a 6 month period my liver grew substantially, however, the doctors haven't been able to figure this out.
Here are a list of my symptoms
Abdominal pain and distention
Bloating
Excessive gas pains
Chronic urinary infections
Low urine output/urine retention
Fatigue
Severe obstructive sleep apnea
Enlarged spleen
Enlarged liver
Enlarged appendix
IgG test result of 12 (normal range being 0-5)
Consistently low body temp, ave 95-96
Edema in feet, ankles, extremities, abdomen and face
ANA test result of positive 1:40 dual pattern
PET scan showed FDG uptake in areas of bone marrow over entire skeleton and marrow hyperplasia was noted. (these results were never explained to me)
I am a white male, age 38.
If you have any ideas and/or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated
Vincent
