Even if they don't find 'anything' doesn't mean that there isn't a problem. Your gallbladder can be chronically inflamed and they have no way to detect it other than by going in and removing it, then examining it. My advise- jump through the test hoops. HIDA, CAT, Ultrasounds, and if any other G.I. problem has been ruled out, then you can demand to see a surgeon.

I am in the same boat as all of you. I have had pain in my upper right abdomen just under the ribs. I am always dry heaving although I never throw anything up. I have lost about 28 pounds, which was a good thing for me because I am overweight. They have done nearly every test they can think of, I recently got a hida scan and they stopped it early which I'm guessing means that my gallbladder is fine. If anyone ever figures out the reason behind this PLEASE PLEASE post something. I'm at my wits end with this and I'm not sure how much longer I can do this. I've been contemplating suicide now for the past few months because I wake up in pain every day. Please I'm begging you to post any information you have.

I have been having severe RUQ pain just below the rib cage. Radiates slightly to my back and down towards my groin. When I eat heavy or fatty foods the pain increases in intensity and last for hours. I've been living basically on clear liquids, ginger ale, and chicken broth. I decided to eat some pizza and was immediately hit with nausea and pain. I went to the ER and my appendix was checked and that came back negative. I'm having rebound tenderness on examination. I had a CT scan which came back negative. Showed slow gastric emptying, contracted gallbladder. Had a lot of stomach contents and contents in my intestines. I have been going back and forth between constipated and diarrhea. I constantly feel bloated, acid reflux, RUQ pain that intensifies with large fatty foods. I've love 15 lbs in the last week and a half. I just can't eat, I feel full, lost desire to eat, and when I do Pain, Pain, and more pain. When I'm not eating I'm uncomfortable but when I do eat it gets worse and last hours with increased nausea. I been taking zofran like candy. I've missed work several times already due to the pain and nausea. I recently saw a GI doctor who believes it's my gallbladder. I just had an endoscopy done and was admitted into the hospital after due to severe RUQ pain with nausea. The EGD showed duodenitis which is similar to gastritis and the GI MD doesn't believe that's the cause of my pain. I had an ultrasound completed in the ER which showed my gallbladder wall is thickened but no gallstones. When I asked what does the thickening mean she said "I'll be honest with you your gallbladder is messed up". She then said I will need to have a hida scan completed. Which I have scheduled for Wednesday. I just want to be able to eat and enjoy food like I used too. I weighed 213 and I am 5'8" tall and now I'm weighing in at 202. If taking out the gallbladder will making things better I'm all for it but after reading a lot of the posts it seems as though many doctors are not willing to remove the gallbladder if the tests come back negative. My labs have been negative, my X-rays negative, CT scan neither negative not positive, the US showed the thickening of my gallbladder wall but no stones, lots of air bubbles, no SBO or LBO, next is the hida scan. If that test comes back negative will look lower down (colonoscopy) to see if there's anything there that could be causing my symptoms. But all my symptoms seem to point towards my gallbladder. All my symptoms mirrors the symptoms everyone else has been discussing on their posts. It's extremely disheartening to know that many people are suffering from these issues and cannot get the help they need. Really shows how insurance companies dictate the better judgment of physicians who put off surgery knowing the tests can come back negative yet when they finally decide to remove the gallbladder it was diseased all along. Shows the tests are unreliable.

You sounds just like. I had a CT & Ultrasound that both listed cysts on my liver, spleen & pancreas along with an obstructed biliary duct. I just had a HIDA that was 86% so it's normal. Now they want to do an EGD. I was in the hospital three weeks ago with pancreatitis and they thought i was faking it but the ER doctor from another hospital was pretty sure i was having GB issues. I ate fried food yesterday and i thought i was going to die. So after 4 trips to the ER, 1 admittance and 4 tests, is there anyone that is going to listen to me? I too am 5'8" and I've gone from 225 to 205 in 4 to 5 weeks. I guess when you get to the point your going to die they wake up and do something?
