I have been going to a methadone clinic for 4 months now. I stopped my dosage at 90 mgs because I don't want to get too far up there. I asked my counselor about titrating down but she seems to be against it. I don't care about that though. I have not had a dirty test during the entire time, even for marijuana. I'm done with the drug scene and am sure of it. I am scared to death of the withdrawals though and have different thoughts about how to go about getting off the methadone and everything else. I want to start titrating down for sure. Other things I've considered are actually getting back on morphine and then ween myself down from that to vicadon and then to nothing. Has anyone ever tried this method and if so, did it work. I am a coward when it comes to withdrawals and also consider going to one of those rapid detox places if I can save up the money. Like I said, I've only been on the methadone for about 4 months. How bad should I expect withdrawals to be? Any help is appreciated.

Hi Targettracer, Your going to have to face the fact of going through withdraws, It's the only way to get off the stuff. I too was a heavy user of the stuff for a good year. I weaned myself right down (As much as I could) & than went into a Detox center to go through the rest of the withdraws, I'll tell you it wasn't pleasent, but I got through it! A lot of body aces & what not, but you can do it! Just hang in there & go through the pain, believe me it's well worth it. I feel great now. Good luck!
