Hi i have been on suboxon for about 3 years. I have tryed several times to get off it but the withdrawls are to much. I just found out i have a tumor on my pancreas and have to have major surgery. They told me i will have to go on pain meds after the surgery. Will the pain med work if im taking suboxon? or how many days will i have to be off them for the pain meds to work. thanks for any info.

in some people the mix of naloxone and opiates triggers withdraw... so taking the pain medication say 4 hours after taking suboxone you might feel some pain (i was able to take suboxone and other opioids without any symptoms-- like always depends on the individuals physiology. suboxone has a long half life. What i suggest is; how long do you wait between dosages? how many hours between dosages before you feel like you need to take the medication? Take your last suboxone dosage that x number of hours before surgery and you will be fine. They will most likely dope you up during the surgery so you body will have the dopamine effect at the time you need it.
