Hi, I also have asthma and mostly because of stress and pollution in our area. My doctor told me to try advair. It t it is not offering you a permanent cure, just an instant relief from symptoms. it is great to diminish symptoms. At first, I have been taking it once a day. Until gradually I totally stopped using it. For shortness of breath I use puff or two of ventolin. Also, fluticasone is a steroid, used to prevent the release of histamine, responsible for spreading inflammation. Salmeterol is a bronchodilator, and it provides improvement of breathing.
