Walking(specifically pacing) definitely made my GV worse. I believe that gout and GV are linked to acidity but I'll leave the science to experts. I'm only interested in preventative treatment.

It's been almost a year since I posted here, and I've gone GV and gout free the entire time. I've narrowed it down to one treatment - tart cherry juice. The capsules were ineffective, or marginally effective and Aleve was not a factor. The juice alone, even in very small doses if taken regularly or a large glass before exposure to GV causing conditions prevents any trace of GV every time. Baking soda has a similar effect but less potent(for me).

I'm not someone you would remotely consider anti-establishment, I don't believe that there's a natural cure for every disease and condition but I am positive that tart cherry juice has managed my GV and gout, and even reversed the damage gout had done to my toe.

This is known as golfers vasculitis and is common and harmless. The rash and swelling that some people are talking about is NOT this as this just feels hot afterwards with no other symptoms except the red rash. Very annoying and looks a mess! As it's your daily job does it stay all the time or does the rash fade each day - mine comes up after a long walk but takes approx 5 -7 days to fade so interested yo know what happens when uou have it each day. It's NOT the true Vasculitis that can be dangerous.

What kind of tart cherry juice is it. Is it concentrated juice? Here in Denmark I Can only get tart juice you have to thin up with water. (Kind of lemonade or squash) For how long did you drink the juice before you saw the results. And How much do you drink A Day
to prevent GV. ?
Thank you.

I do not believe there is nothing to worry about. I have had golfers rash many time. The first few times it just disappeared in a few day. When it appears now the rash will be gone but there remains a constant burning pain. About a month ago I was referred to a Dermatologist for another matter. I showed him a picture I had taken of my calves. He said it should be biopsied.
There could be other underlying conditions causing this.
I am a 76 year old female with Ankylosing Spondylitis, an auto immune disease. Today I golfed and walked the 18 holes. The rash is back. Worse around my ankles and

lesser on my calves. I try cold compresses which helps somewhat but the burning sensation is constant. Any treatment I have tried is only temporary.
Guess I should only golf in Spring and Fall!
Any solutions ou there?

And this just happened to me it's on the inside of my leg between my ankle and my knee It does not hurt But it is concerning seeing that this is never happened to me before. My workplace is very hot You think I can have the same thing you have

Yes, it DOES itch and hurt! and it takes at least a week to heal. When the redness does dissipate, it is followed by brown patches, almost like an internal "scab".

I also have used horse chestnut extract cream. It definitely helps. Use before and after exercise in hot weather. I take it on holiday with me.

Wow! I thought it was just me! Not sure which would come first, the skeeter bite or the blotchy red rash on the lower legs...but there is a definite correlation! The mosquito bite changes from a normal
itchy bump to a huge dark red splotch. If a mosquito bites anywhere other than the lower leg area, it remains a "normal" mosquito bite. I also think this is immune-related, as I have been bounced from a diagnosis of MCTD to UCTD.

I’m 64 and HAD temporary vasculitis for 11 years. I first suffere it after a round of golf at our club in Tarzana California in the early summer. I had no clue as to what it was and neither did the dermatologist until I discovered a write up on it in a New Zealand health journal.

For the next 11 years, every time I played golf with the temperature over 85° I would get vasculitis on my thighs and calves. It disappeared in a few days. I learned to live with it. You all know there is no cure, just solutions to treat the symptoms.

Seven years ago we moved to Paso Robles in December. The temperatures are more mild in the fall winter and spring than Tarzana but can get much warmer in the summer. Sure enough as soon as the temperature reached the high 80s the vasculitis returned when I golfed. Eventually it started coming on at lower temperatures and I figured it’s just because of aging.

In January of 2016, for reasons unrelated to the vasculitis, I decided to lose some weight. I’m 6’ 1”, weighed 167 when I graduated from college and had drifted up to 190 lb, well within a healthy limit and people considered me thin. My goal was the 170’s. My wife and I are healthy and ate what most consider healthy — a lower fat diet consisting of fish, chicken, an occasional steak, veggies, whole grains, pasta, quinoa. I started counting calories making sure I burned 300 more than I took in. By May I had lost 5 lb. On a hot day in early June I was playing golf. I always walk and push my cart. I couldn’t make it past the 15th hole, I was gassed — heat and physical exhaustion.

I figured the exhaustion came from not getting enough calories so I researched a variety of alternative diets that might allow me to continue to lose weight and stay strong.

Bottom line, both my wife and I adopted a ketogenic diet and eliminated all grains, carb rich foods, all sugars and all vegetable based fats/oils. No pasta, no quinoa, no rice, no sugar in any form including ketchup, fruit juices, no jarred or packaged foods that contain canola/vegetable oils and/or corn syrup, etc. and most fruits. We get 75% of our calories/macronutrients from healthy fat (meat and fish, bacon, coconut oil, avocado oil, olive oil, heavy whipping cream, full fat yogurt and cheeses), 20% protein (meat, eggs and nuts), 5% carbs (a whole bunch of green and cruciferous veggies). The only sugar we consume comes from a limited amount of dark berries. Within 2 weeks I lost 10 pounds and was adding knotches in my belts. I went from a size 36–38 pant to a 34. Within 2 months I weighed 170 then stabilized at 166 and 32 pant size. I now carry by bag, even in 100+ temperatures. I hadn’t gone for a run in years. A month ago I ran 3.5 miles while the temp was in the 90’s. I never get tired during the day, don’t feel sleepy after meals and have never been more alert.

The most interesting benefit — I HAVE NOT HAD A HINT OF VASCULITIS SINCE DAY 1 ON THIS KETOGENIC LIFESTYLE.

If you want to solve your vasculitis issues I suggest you turn yourself into a fat burner rather than a glucose burner. Not only will the vasculitis disappear you will lose your belly, butt, and thighs and require a new wardrobe.

See my guest post. A ketogenic diet was the key for me. Specifically I follow the Vinnie Totorich NSNG lifestyle. What’s not to like about eating bacon while lowering your risk for heart disease?

I too am on my feet 13 hour days and some days I'll come home to the ankle rash and some days I don't. Can't see a pattern or cause. Does not itch or hurt. Just ugly. I'm female, just over 50 and this has been happening for several years. Guess we'll just have to live with it.

Hi, I am 18 and am healthy and active. Mine came across the same sort of discription as you, they are only two small patches the size of the tip of my thumb but are just ugly to look at. They are not itchy or sore but the more prominent one had a little bit of dry skin. I have had them for a few months and thought they would go away.. Would love to hear your outcome!

I am a 57 year old British lady living in Hong Kong and have suffered from GV for 5 years now, strangely enough I didn't walk very far yesterday,(8000 steps), and I had a bad attack, but I did get quite a few mosquito bites before the rash appeared. I tried the bicarbonate and water last night and this morning, but so sign of any improvement.
