I am 24, I have had headaches since I was 13. They have been getting worse. Sometimes it is a migraine, but lately I have had a headache everyday. I get dizzy when I stand up and feel like I am going to pass out. I went to the doctor and was told I have low blood pressure. I weigh 82 pounds, but I eat all the time! I was told i need to eat more often and eat more salt. I eat all the time, and have recently increased my salt intake, it is not working!! I think there must be something else going on, maybe along with the low blood pressure? I might be hopeless, but for some of you it may just be low blood pressure!

After reading all these pages...i see no one has mentioned HIV. All these symptoms...or most of them anyways are also early signs of HIV. Scary thought, but maybe thats why doctors cant find whats wrong with all of us. The only way to detect HIV is to get a HIV specific blood test...otherwise the doctors will never be able to locate it if that is the problem. That specific test looks for HIV anti bodies in your blood...no other test detects it.

Hi I nearly cried when reading all of your responses. I am 42 have been having headaches for the last 9 weeks. Never had them before. It started with pain accross the side of the head like a shooting tearing pain, and then developed to the front above the eyes. It is now most of the time in the day. have one now...it's a kind of dull heavy weight headache that has stressed the back of my neck so much that from my shoulders upwards to just below my ears is very tender. I went to doctor 1 who said I had peri-menopause. The Gynocologist said last week I didn't. My doctor said I dont have that. Did some blood test...all normal, he suggested it is stress from leaning over at work and has told me that your muscles tendons tense whilst leaning and cause the area accross the head by the ears, to tense. Thus resulting in tension accross the forehead. I don't know if this is true and I'm inches away from getting a scan. I'm doing what he said to do, which is to relax, have lots of baths, put warm compress on the area, massage.
I've had my eyes tested and they are above average, so if this isn't stress and tension hen I'd love ot know what it is.
Does anyone actually answer anyones problems on here??
Ps. I have and enlarged Goitre, underactive thyroid, and fibromyalgia.

The most depressing part of this is the fact that the initial post was from March 2007, and here we are in August of 2009 with absolutely ZERO answers. FYI... the mayo clinic website says there is no cure.

Hi, I'm almost 40 years old, and have had these headaches since I was 17. Its finally gotten to the point where I'm in the emergency room almost every week getting loaded up with shot after shot of Dilaudid (8-10 times stronger than morphine, but with a lower dependence liability) and then sent home to sleep for the next 24 hours or so. I have a MASSIVE head pain every single day with no relief EVER at this point. I've tried every form of migraine medication, I've had CT scans, every blood test known to man, I've had allergy tests and sleep tests, tried every vitamin/mineral routine, been on the anti-depressant treatment, and now they want me to try either anti-seizure medications or beta-blockers (blood pressure meds).

My latest effort is that I've been seeing a chiropractor for about 3 weeks every single day, and am getting a massage twice a week, but I have had no change at all so far. This round of headaches has lasted 8 1/2 weeks... and still couting. I'm completely exhausted all of the time to the point where I'm taking naps in my car on my lunch hour and then barely making it through the afternoon, taking another nap the minute I get home, and going to bed for the night by 9:00 (great life huh?). I've had brief bouts of disorientation, confusion, memory loss, etc with these ones (yet the ER sends me home saying they can find nothing serious).

This is absolutely effecting my job, my personal life, my ability to be an active parent, my ability to drive or get through a grocery store sometimes, etc.

And I'm sorry everyone... but 22 years into this, I still have no answers.... just frustration for my own situation, and empathy for you all.

I'm 26 years old and I've been having headaches / migraines since I was 3. I usually have them 5-10 times a month, and it's really not pleasant.

It affected my school, and now my work. I'm lucky if I have migraines at weekends, because I know I won't have them so often during the week. Best way to relieve the pain during the migraine attack, is to sleep it over (in a very dark and cold room), but if I get one in the morning, I'm screwed. I work from 8am to 4pm, and there's no way to go lie down anywhere in my office - besides, it would be inappropriate too.

No pain-relieving medication works anymore, only medication that helps me is ketoprofen (for pain relieve) and thiethylperazine (for inducing vomiting) - both received intravenously, so I can only get the treatment in the hospital. But I can only take it once or twice a month, and even that is dangerous.

I don't like being privileged, but there should be a way for us sufferers to overcome this problem in our work and social environments.

I'm 29 and have been experiencing headaches on and off for a while. Two weeks ago, I woke up terribly dizzy to the point of nausea. After seeing two different doctors, I went to a chiropractor. My dizziness went away within an hour of my first adjustment. I've been back twice since and haven't had another headache. He's great. I was hesitant, but did some research and am now so thankful. Try it! Here's hoping you feel better.

hey. ive been getting headaches for years. my doctor when this first started told me it was the smoking and was actually quite rude about it so i had just left it at that. when i got pregnant with my son i stopped smoking and the headaches seemed to disapear (except for the occasional one, like a normal person) however it all came flooding back the day i went into labour, and i havnt been able to get ride of it since (along with the dizziness, nausea, some migrains, lack of energy and so on).the dizziness came to a point where i couldnt even move without feeling like i was going to pass out, that lasted for 2mnths then slowly eased.the worst few mnths of my life (so far). i quit smoking for 18mnths so i know that isnt the cause. since going back to the doctor he has come up with nothing.i was tested for HIV whilst preg-negative,i have normal blood pressure,i was tested for underactive thyroid and thats all fine.i have had my eyes checked,no problems, ive been to osteopaths which was awesome for the migrains but doesnt touch the headaches.my doctor reffered me to a specialist hoping for a CT scan but the specialist wont do one coz he cant find anything neurologically wrong. im at a loss as to what to do next as no medication my doctor has given me works. im embarrased that people might think its all in my head (mentally) because it cant be explained. it is becoming unbearable as it controls every aspect of my life.please someone get to the bottom of this

I am a 23 year old female and have been suffering from severe headaches on and off for 2 years now, when they first started i was pregnant so i told my midwife, i was advised that it was due to the hormone level in my body however when i had my baby in Jan 09 they never seemed to go away infact they got worse.
I told my doctor about the headaches and was advised it was migraines and got prescribed medication for this however the medication never seemed to work, i have attended 3 different doctors regarding this now all advising me that it is migraines however i am not satisfied and nither is my mum lol i have managed to get the doctor to refer me for an MRI scan to see what the problem is.

I've got exactly the same symptoms as everyone here, but I also get chest pains, numbness in the centre of my chest, back pains and last week I collapsed at work and was rushed into hospital. I've had these symptoms for 10 months now. I'm 23 years old, have never had any health problems and at first thought it was asthma as it runs in my family. All my blood tests have come back negative, only showing signs of a slight infection, which is usually a chest or throat infection that I'm used to. I went back to my doctor this week and she has simply said its a case of anxiety and stress. I've not taken any medication for this as of yet as I have been on anti-anxiety medication before and this simply made me sleep all of the time, but since I have been told that it is simply this, and I've been getting a normal amount of rest, not overdoing it too much and eating slightly healthier, my symptoms have been next to none. The only thing I can't seem to shift are the headaches. Things to avoid, or cut down on, are alcohol, smoking, caffeine. Try not to concentrate on the problems as this will only worsen it and try to avoid getting worked up...hope this helps some, obviously won't help all but its worked for me :-)

I have the same symptoms except I also have pain in my back and neck and my muscles are really tight by my shoulder blade. I have tingling everywhere but especially down the right side. It has been 5 years that I have lived with it and the happiest time (sad to say) is when I am sleeping and dreaming. I don't sleep well...wake up probably 2-10 times a night depending on the night. Tests all negative (CT, blood (multiple times), etc.)

Please help it makes me so depressed.
