Hi,  this is quite conserning that we all have the same symtoms but nothing is getting diagnosed or sorted out, i have the exact same thing as most of you. started with heart palpitaions which lasted a good 3 days, which then went on to chest pain, rib pain (top and bottom) extreme tiredness which is now about a week on from when it first started.. i have had all the same rests done, bloods, ECG, chest xray. the only thing i am waiting to have done now is the 24hour ECG to monitor it over a longer period of time. i have been given the same advise to stop drinking caffine and to stop smoking, i have cut out the caffine apart from the odd cup of tea and taking my smoking down from 10-15 a day down to 6 at the most. i would really like to know if any one has improved or been diagnosed with anything. ive had to take time off work and is becoming a nighmare. Docs also keep putting it down to stress, i do not feel stressed apart from worrying about what is wrong with me... must also add that i only started having heart palpitaions because of an old manager, ever since working for this B*tch a year ago they have come and gone but theres nothing conecting the things together (where as before i knew it was her causing it to happen), as i said im not stressed, im happy at work, and home! i just need to know whats happening!!

please let me know if u have found any thing out.

forgot to add I have been taking Propangalol which is type of beat a blocker medication... (doesnt seem to work)

You seem to be describing Atrial Fibrillation, no set chest pain pattern, indeed sometimes there is none, very hard to detect unless you are connected to an appropriate machine while you are having an attack. High BP and high heart rate (not associated with exercise), palpitations are just that your heart is not beating right, it can be life threading.

Please Google Atrial Fibrillation.

I think I have solved your problem.  I have been completely healthy my entire life.  I'm 49.   About a year ago, I was in the mall and got one of those $10 back massages.  The massage person pushed so hard on my back that my rib was sore.   I was 100% healthy at the time.   Two days later, I had full-blown pneumonia.  A month later, I started having heart palpitations.  I had the full spectrum of tests run:  EKG, echo cariogram, fitted me with a device to monitor my heart, everything.  They said I was totally healthy.  I was dumbstruck:  how could my heart be flopping all over the place, but they claim I was totally healthy?   I finally went to an osteopathic physician (commonly referred to as a D.O.) who solved my problem.  D.O.'s aren't quacks:  they go through medical school and have to pass the medical boards.  As for me,  my rib was out of place.  My D.O. put it back in place.  Later, a D.O. worked on me and informed me that my heart palpations were a result of distress to my kidneys.  Seems the rib was pressing on something, that was causing the kidney to act up, which, in turn, caused the heart to flutter.    While in her office, she manipulated my ribs and guess what?  My heart that had been inconsistent for a few months was beating perfectly.  She smiled and winked at me and said, "See, you are not going to die."  It was a huge relief.   I still occassionally have problem with that rib that massage therapist injured.   I will feel a dull pain in the rib, followed by palpitations.  I go back to the D.O. and she fixes it.   I have learned that I need to do some physical therapy so the rib won't obstruct various nerves in my back.   As for the D.O. that I saw, she is in San Diego County in a town called Escondido.  Her name is Aline Fournier.  Here is her contact information:  307 S Ivy St  Escondido, CA 92025  If you are on the East Coast, I know of an equally talented D.O. in Orlando, Florida.   His name is Brett Thomas. Here is his contact information:  5540 E Grant St, Orlando, FL 32822

Thank you, thank you!! I do not know who posted this explanation about a year ago, but finally, after many doctor visits, blood tests, ultrasound, I think you helped me understand this condition. Just as many people have posted, I gave up trying to figure out why it feels like my ribs are moving constantly!! I think my friends/family and maybe even some doctors thought I was a hypocondriac or that I am just strange when explaining what it feels like. I have asked more then one type of doctor, "Can your ribs move or twitch?" I did not get a answer. The only doctor that I think believed me last year was my ob-gyn!! He mentioned some medical term for rib cage movement, but I do not remember the word. He told me that is probably not it, and sent me for a ultrasound. I was extremely uncomfortable during ultrasound and was thinking, "this technician has to see the movement in there, right, I hope???" Results came back normal. I think she was searching for tumors.

Anyway, who ever posted this, I so much appreciate you sharing. I am sure you all know how frustrating it is to feel this inside you, and just about everyone looks at you as though you are strange!!

I am going to call my ob-gyn on Monday to see him. Can you please post what the medical term is for the ribcage alignment movement? Thank you!!!!!

I was wondering if you know the medical term used for the rib cage being out of alignment? After many doctor visits and tests, nothing found. I always thought my ribs were moving and everyone thought I am a weird person. I wonder how commnon this is? Why do doctors not know about this condition? Thank you so much!!

Wow this sounds exactly what I have. Iv been to doctors and they all told me anxiety but I knew that wasnt it being that the anxiety meds were not working. I have been having heart palpitations, pain in my ribs and breathing problems for over a year. I saw a chiropractor he told me that I had 2 ribs out of place he popped them back I felt normal again for about 2 days but he told me no bending twisting or lifting for 3 days and I coukd not do that being that I have 4 babies to take care of. Now that im 5 months pregnant its getting worse and I cant find a doctor that knows about the ribs. I cant go to a chiropractor because u cant pop your back being pregnant. What kind of doctor should I go see plz email me bak

Holy c**p I have the same problem but i little bit more... (I think i'm the hundredth person to say that i have the same problem and yeah). I'm just about 15 and a female. For a few months i've been having stabbing pain on the left bottom side of my ribs at least once or twice. Then, the pain expanded to my right side too, but the left occurs more. Then now, there is pain (under) my left breast too. After, my left side of the head started to hurt occasionally. The head pain hurts more than the other parts. I'm also starting to have irregular breathing and seeming like i can't get enough oxygen. Can't expand my lungs to the fullest.. maybe i'm too self-conscious? I don't know... I've also been having bad appetite, but then eating a lot afterwards. I ... don't think i have anxiety attacks since i'm pretty calm about a lot of stuff...

What do you mean by GERD. You mean all the symptoms described can be due to GERD?

I found answers for pain as many as you have described thru my chiripractor. I have acid reflux issues and when my acid levels are high my ribs become inflamed and then they shift out of place. When I find my acid levels getting higher I will get tendernous in my ribs and I will reevaluate what I have been eating and drinking and make corrections and take Zantac and Tums to lower the acid levels. Overeating causes these issues as well. Coffee is a huge one for acid issues so that should be cut out of the diet. You can find a list of items to avoid online. Another one I hated getting rid of was tomatoes. Anyway, when I really mess up and not care about what I put in my body and my acid levels go up and my ribs shift to where they are painful I got to my chiropractor who then uses an 'activator' tool to nudge them back. I will also use a pain relief gel made by Zim's that I get at Walgreens or CVS. Another good one is called Performance but I prefer the Zim's very good for aching muscles.

its coxsackie virus B mine mis diagnosed hand and foot disease. mis diagnosed gingivostomatitis, mis diagnosed costochondritis, mis diagnosed Tietze's Syndrone and Bornholm disease are similar conditions all stem from the coxsackie virus B and yours is a rare symptom but that's what I had so it may just be a new type that does this, Symptoms of infection with viruses in the Coxsackie B grouping include fever, headache, sore throat, gastrointestinal distress, as well as chest and muscle pain. This presentation is known as pleurodynia or Bornholm disease in many areas. Sufferers of chest pain should see a doctor immediately—in some cases, viruses in the Coxsackie B family progress to myocarditis or pericarditis, which can result in permanent heart damage or death. Coxsackie B virus infection may also induce aseptic meningitis. As a group, they are the most common cause of unexpected sudden death, and may account for up to 50% of such cases. The incubation period for the Coxsackie B viruses ranges from 2 to 6 days, and illness may last for up to two weeks, but may resolve as quickly as two days. Infection usually occurs between the months of June and October in temperate Northern Hemisphere regions.

after having costochondritis my ribs occationally hurt and more easily depending on what i do. like to exercise and have to be careful not to do certain movements such as twisting which does hurt my ribs . thought mine went out other day .told doctor and he said it was cartilage or muscle and to know my bodys limit. i've heard that many with costo continue to have pain in ribs for years.i wear a band around waiste when doing aerobics and walking or working outside. it seems to help.i remember another time something went out in back that was a muscle not a ribs as the chiropractor said. i caused it from that twisting or turning motion when i was exercising and did a little too much of same movement. i try to write down any events and what i did when it happened. hope this helps someone.
